This is a dermoid cyst taken from a 35yo female patient who had an incidental finding of a bilateral ovarian mass on transvaginal ultrasound. She was scheduled for elective surgery due to the size and the nature of the ovarian mass.

Dermoid cyst or mature cystic teratoma is the most common benign ovarian tumor in adults and adolescents. It forms from the reproductive cells that make the eggs in the o***y (aka germ cells). This cyst can contain skin, hair, teeth, fat and muscle. It is difficult to diagnose because it does not grow quickly and rarely produce symptoms unless secondary to complications.
