The Department of Health - Central Visayas CHD, through the Subnational Blood Center for Visayas (SNBCV), invites the public to participate in our upcoming walk-in blood donation activities this week.

To ensure a smooth process, please make sure you meet these basic criteria:
• 𝗔𝗴𝗲: 18–65 years old (16-17 years old are accepted with written parental consent).
• 𝗪𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: At least 110 lbs (50 kg).
• 𝗣𝘂𝗹𝘀𝗲 & 𝗕𝗣: Within normal limits (We will check this on-site!).
• 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵: Must be in good health with no symptoms of cough, cold, or fever.
• 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Please bring a Photo ID.

💡 𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗖𝗞 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗣 𝗧𝗜𝗣𝗦:
• 𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽: Get at least 6 hours of rest.
• 𝗗𝗶𝗲𝘁: Eat a non-fatty meal before heading to the center (avoid oily/fried food).
• 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲: Drink plenty of water before and after donating.
• 𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹: No alcohol intake for at least 24 hours prior to donation.

It’s natural to have questions or even feel a bit hesitant before your first donation. But while the mission is to save others, the science shows that giving blood is a powerful investment in your own heart, metabolism, and mental well-being. It is the rare gift where the giver receives as much as they give, the moment it's shared.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝟳 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗢𝗨:
1. 𝗔 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸-𝘂𝗽🏥
Think of it as a free wellness exam. Before you donate, staff check your blood pressure, pulse, and hemoglobin levels. Your blood is also screened for major infections, giving you an early heads-up on your health status.

2. 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗜𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸⚖️
Too much iron can be tough on your body. Regular donation helps keep your iron levels balanced, which is great for your heart and helps reduce "oxidative stress" (the wear and tear on your cells).

3. 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻🔄
After you donate, your body gets to work replacing what was lost. This stimulates your bone marrow to produce fresh red blood cells, keeping your blood supply healthy and efficient.

While it’s not a weight-loss method, according to studies, your body burns roughly 650 calories just by working to replenish the blood you donated. It’s a pleasant little "thank you" from your metabolism!

While the blood itself is a generous gift from a donor, the journey from their arm to a patient's bedside involves critical medical steps to ensure it is safe to use.

In the Philippines, this is called a 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗲, and it is strictly regulated by the Department of Health under Republic Act 7719 and DOH AO 2015‑0045.

🩸Whole Blood: Up to ₱1,800.00
🩸Packed Red Blood Cells (PRBC): Up to ₱1,500.00

Here is a simple breakdown of what that fee actually covers:

Before blood can be used, it must be cleared of infections. Every single bag is tested for five major diseases: HIV, Hepatitis B & C, Syphilis, and Malaria.

✅ 2. 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚
Specialized machines separate one donation into Red Cells, Plasma, and Platelets, allowing one bag to save up to three lives.

✅ 3. 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗔𝗚𝗘 & 𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚
Blood is living tissue that dies quickly without the right technology. Your fee covers the specialized equipment and supplies used from the moment of collection to a transfusion-safe blood—including medical fridges, platelet agitators, sterile bags, and other laboratory supplies.

✅ 4. 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗚
Behind every bag is a team of professionals working around the clock to ensure the blood is perfectly safe for you.

📌 𝗜𝗡 𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗬
You aren't paying for the blood—the blood is a free humanitarian gift. The fee you pay is for the professional medical service required to screen it for diseases, process it into life-saving components, and use high-end technology to keep it "alive" and viable. It is a strictly regulated, non-profit cost designed to ensure that the blood you receive is safe, sterile, and ready to save a life.

To ensure a smooth process, please make sure you meet these basic criteria:
• 𝗔𝗴𝗲: 18–65 years old (16-17 years old are accepted with written parental consent).
• 𝗪𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: At least 110 lbs (50 kg).
• 𝗣𝘂𝗹𝘀𝗲 & 𝗕𝗣: Within normal limits (We will check this on-site!).
• 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵: Must be in good health with no symptoms of cough, cold, or fever.
• 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Please bring a Photo ID.
