Va**ng is often marketed as a safer alternative to smoking, but a recent case from New Jersey is highlighting a disturbing possibility. Doctors at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center detailed the tragic story of a 51-year-old man who switched from ci******es to e-ci******es over a decade ago, only to develop an aggressive form of lung cancer that claimed his life within months of diagnosis. Published in the American Journal of Case Reports, the case is believed to be among the first to directly suggest a link between va**ng and lung cancer.

The man, who had a past history equal to about 10 pack-years of cigarette smoking, quit traditional ci******es back in 2009 and relied solely on va**ng for the next 11 years. In 2020, he went to the hospital after coughing up blood and experiencing alarming symptoms like chest pain, weight loss, and shortness of breath. Tests revealed he had advanced squamous cell carcinoma, a type of non-small cell lung cancer that had already spread into his heart. Despite chemotherapy, the disease progressed rapidly and he passed away just three months later.

Given his relatively young age, absence of recent smoking, and how quickly the cancer grew, doctors suspect va**ng may have contributed to the malignancy. While this doesn’t prove causation, it does raise serious questions. Previous va**ng-related health scares mainly focused on lung injury from contaminated THC products or certain flavoring chemicals, not cancer. This case pushes experts to call for more research to clarify va**ng’s long-term cancer risks. Until then, the story serves as a sobering reminder that va**ng might not be as harmless as many hope.

Ang mga berdeng gulay at prutas ay kadalasang mainam sa ating tiyan, bituka at makatutulong sa pag-iwas sa kanser, tulad ng colon cancer. Ang mga berdeng gulay din ay nagpapababa ng cholesterol at timbang.
Ang gulay tulad ng repolyo, pechay, kangkong, broccoli, spinach at malunggay ay napakahalaga sa katawan. Sagana ito sa bitamina at minerals. Ang mga berdeng gulay ay may taglay na “chlorophyll”, at iba pang sangkap tulad ng fiber, lutein, potassium, calcium, folate, calcium at vitamins A, B at C. Dahil dito, ang gulay ay makatutulong sa sakit sa puso, diabetes, sakit sa tiyan at pag-iwas sa kanser.
Kung gusto ninyong pumayat, kumain ng maraming gulay. Madali itong makabusog at mababa lang sa calories. Para maging mas masustansya ang gulay, puwede itong dagdagan ng bawang, sibuyas at kamatis. Heto ang ilang halimbawa:
1. Broccoli at Cauliflower - Napakasustansya ng gulay na broccoli at cauliflower. Ayon sa US Department of Agriculture, ang broccoli ay mas mayaman sa vitamin C kumpara sa orange. Magkasing-dami ang calcium ng broccoli at isang basong gatas. Ang mga sanga ng broccoli ay may 3 doble ng fiber kumpara sa isang pirasong wheat bread. Ang broccoli ay may kemikal na sulforaphane na makatutulong sa pag-iwas sa breast cancer. Ayon sa World Cancer Research Fund, may 206 na pagsisiyasat ang nagsasabi na ang broccoli at cauliflower ay pangontra sa kanser sa bibig, lalamunan, suso, tiyan, baga, lapay (pancreas) at bituka.
May taglay na folic acid ang broccoli na kailangan ng bata sa sinapupunan. Mayroon din itong calcium na makatutulong sa pag-iwas sa osteoporosis. Ang isang tasa ng broccoli o cauliflower ay may taglay lamang na 46 calories. Kung gusto ninyong pumayat, kumain ng maraming gulay para mabusog agad.
2. Abokado - Ang abokado ay mayaman sa masustansyang “mono-unsaturated fats.” Ito ay makatutulong sa pag-iwas sa sakit sa puso at stroke. Ang abokado ay may sangkap na potassium, vitamin B6 at vitamin E. May tulong ito sa pagpapakinis ng balat. At dahil madaling kainin at tunawin ang abokado, mainam itong ipakain sa mga maysakit at may edad.
