CSC: Government Workers may file Special Leave for Children’s Measles-Rubella Vaccination

The Civil Service Commission has announced that government employees may avail of special leave privileges to accompany their children to measles-rubella vaccination sites as part of the Department of Health’s nationwide immunization campaign.

The DOH Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity will be conducted in two phases across the country. Phase 1 will run from January 19 to February 13 in Mindanao and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), while Phase 2 is scheduled for June in Luzon and Visayas.

Under the initiative, civil servants are permitted to file for special leave to fulfill their parental obligations, including attending to their children’s medical needs. This provision is authorized under Memorandum Circular No. 6, series of 1996, as amended by MC No. 6, series of 1999.

Parents are encouraged to coordinate with barangay nurses or midwives regarding vaccination schedules and to visit the nearest health centers during the campaign period.

Government agencies have been called upon to facilitate the availment of special leave privileges to ensure maximum participation in the immunization drive.

The CSC emphasized that the campaign aims to protect children and maintain community health and safety.

For more information on vaccination schedules, parents may contact their local barangay health workers.
