MARCH IS RABIES AWARENESS MONTH

Cebu City joins the entire nation in observing Rabies Awareness Month this March through the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries (DVMF), pursuant to Republic Act No. 9482, also known as the Anti-Rabies Act of 2007.

Rabies is 100 percent preventable. However, it continues to pose a serious threat to public health. The City Government calls on all residents to practice responsible pet ownership and support community-based efforts to protect both people and animals.

SCHEDULED ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES

In partnership with the barangays, the DVMF Office will conduct the following activities:

• House-to-house anti-rabies vaccination in barangays
• Spay and neuter services at selected barangays and at the DVMF Office
• Information and education campaigns in elementary schools
• Responsible pet ownership seminars
• Animal bite prevention awareness sessions in barangays
• Pet registration

Pet owners are strongly encouraged to participate in the scheduled activities and ensure that their dogs and cats are properly vaccinated and registered.

Together, let us work toward a Rabies-Free Cebu City by 2030.

For barangay schedules and other inquiries, residents may coordinate directly with their respective barangay offices for specific dates and venues.
