Impacted wisdom🦷tooth surgery under local anesthesia! There are two types of Patients, one with low & high pain threshold Patients. I will not recommend to do this type of surgery, with deep bone and horizontally inclined tooth impaction with mandibular canal approximation on a patient with low pain threshold because it will be a painful experience for the patient. In my observation, female Patients had better pain tolerance than male patients (i can relate). If the patient opt for local anesthesia, I will do the procedure at my office usually 10-20 minutes per tooth regardless of the difficulty. But for the patient with low pain threshold, i will usually take a longer time if the Patient decide for local anesthesia. Its basically patients choice. With one of my ultimate idol in my field of specialty, Prof. Neal D. Futran, a dual qualified in Dentistry and Medicine, an OMS and an ENT Head & Neck Cancer and microvascular reconstructive Surgeon, also a skull base Surgeon. When i introduced myself to him, the first few words he uttered, “which comes first?, MD or DMD?” And that opens our conversation…. At the end of our conversation, i told him that i want to be like him, he look at me on a “strict look” and he told me that its difficult because you have no hair haha… and he gave me his calling card and said,”come to Seattle!” And that inspired the young lad!🤓 The rest is history!🙏
