CGDCV Conducts Basic Life Support Training

LOOK: The Coast Guard District Central Visayas (CGDCV) under the leadership of COMMO Weniel A Azcuna PCG through the Nursing Service Sub-Unit–Central Visayas and Coast Guard Medical Station–Central Visayas, in collaboration with the District’s Education and Training Branch successfully conducted a three-day Basic Life Support (BLS) Training aboard HCGDCV, Arellano Blvd., Pier 3, Brgy. Tinago, Cebu City.

This initiative supports the Command’s commitment to enhancing the skills and readiness of Coast Guard personnel by providing essential life-saving and rescue training. The BLS Training aims to improve CGDCV’s emergency response capability, ensuring that its personnel are equipped to deliver immediate and effective interventions during medical emergencies—ultimately safeguarding both Coast Guard members and the general public.

A total of sixty-three (63) participants, including three (3) Officers from various units under the CGDCV successfully completed the training. Their active participation reflects CGDCV’s commitment to operational readiness and excellence in emergency response.

ICYMI: The Coast Guard District Central Visayas Conducts Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Seminar (MHPSS) Spearheaded by the Chief Nurse of Nursing Service Sub-Unit - Central Visayas (NSSU-CV) Commander Gresa J Candongo PCG and the Assigned Psychometrician of Medical Service – Central Visayas (MEDS-CV) Ensign Daisy Mae A Rulloda PCG at Hawanan ni Lapu-Lapu, HCGDCV, Brgy. Tinago, Cebu City last 24 March 2025.

The participants share their unforgettable experiences individually since they entered the service. The said activity helps them to express their emotions and ease their feelings. It supports and enables personnel to address personal & work-related challenges more effectively, improving well-being, job performance, and satisfaction by assisting with both work and personal issues, individuals can focus better on their tasks, thereby enhancing workplace efficiency.

The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and psychosocial support, promote best practices in providing care, and foster a supportive environment for those affected by mental health issues.

The conference served as a platform to discuss the challenges faced by 𝗖𝗚𝗡𝗦 personnel across different Sub-units. With a strong emphasis on positive thinking and proactive solutions, the 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 encouraged 𝗖𝗚𝗡𝗦 members to continue upholding their commitment to excellence in providing healthcare services.

Beyond addressing concerns, the said activity was also an opportunity to 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙚 and 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙙 the best practices, dedication, and hard work of 𝗖𝗚𝗡𝗦 personnel. Their unwavering service plays a pivotal role in the healthcare and welfare of Coast Guard personnel and the communities they serve.

This initiative underscores the unwavering commitment of CGNS to continuous improvement and the relentless pursuit of innovative approaches in the delivery of healthcare services.

The Coast Guard District Central Visayas, through the Nursing Service Sub-unit Central Visayas in collaboration with the Coast Guard Medical Service-Central Visayas, successfully conducted a three-day Basic Life Support (BLS) Training from February 19 to 21, 2025, aboard Hawanan ni Lapu-Lapu, Arellano Blvd., Pier 3, Brgy. Tinago, Cebu City, Cebu.

A total of 60 participants, including 6 officers and 54 non-officers from various stations and sub-stations, took part in the training, which aimed to enhance their First Aid and Basic Life Support skills. The comprehensive training covered Foreign Body Airway Management and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), equipping participants with the essential knowledge and techniques required to respond effectively in emergencies, particularly maritime incidents.

The CGDCV remains committed to enhancing the capabilities of its personnel, ensuring that they are well-prepared to respond to emergencies at sea and on land. Through continuous training and skill development, the Philippine Coast Guard upholds its mandate of ensuring maritime safety and protecting lives.
