🧬 HIV Awareness: Know the Facts, Stay Protected

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) attacks the immune system and, if untreated, can lead to AIDS. But the good news isβ€”HIV is preventable and manageable with proper care.

πŸ”΄ How HIV spreads:
β€’ Unprotected sexual contact
β€’ Sharing needles or syringes
β€’ Mother-to-child during pregnancy, birth, or breastfeeding
β€’ Infected blood transfusion (rare with modern screening)

🟒 How to protect yourself:
β€’ Use condoms consistently
β€’ Get tested regularly
β€’ Consider PrEP for prevention
β€’ Avoid sharing needles

πŸ’Š Treatment works:
With proper antiretroviral therapy (ART), people living with HIV can live long, healthy lives and reduce transmission risk.

πŸ“ Take action today:
βœ” Get tested
βœ” Learn the facts
βœ” Support those living with HIV
βœ” Help stop stigma

Together, we can create a more informed and healthier community. ❀️

A large study from the UK Biobank found that people with hypertension who meet the recommended weekly exercise amount have a significantly lower risk of early death.

And here’s the encouraging part:
You don’t have to exercise every single day.

Whether you spread your workouts throughout the week or do most of them in 1–2 days (β€œweekend warrior” style), the benefits were similar β€” as long as you hit the total recommended amount.

Bottom line:
If you have high blood pressure, some exercise is much better than none β€” and consistency over the week (in any pattern) can help you live longer.

Move more. Your heart will thank you.

Did you know that Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious but 100% curable disease? 🫁✨
Let’s break down the facts based on the DOH National Tuberculosis Control Program so we can keep our communities safe and healthy! πŸ‘‡
🦠 WHAT IS TB?
TB is caused by the Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria, which usually attacks the lungs. It spreads through the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or spits.
πŸ€’ SPOT THE SYMPTOMS:
Don't ignore the signs! Watch out for:
β€’ Coughing that lasts for 2 weeks or more
β€’ Fever (especially rising in the evening)
β€’ Night sweats
β€’ Unexplained weight loss & poor appetite
β€’ Chest pain or coughing up blood
πŸ›‘ DOH MYTHBUSTERS (Tandaan!):
Let's stop the stigma! TB is...
❌ HINDI namamana (Not inherited).
❌ HINDI nakukuha sa pagpapagod, puyat, o natuyuan ng pawis.
❌ HINDI naipapasa sa paggamit ng kubyertos o pag-inom sa iisang baso.
πŸ’Š THE CURE: TB-DOTS (Tutok Gamutan)
Good news: Treatment is FREE and EFFECTIVE at DOH Health Centers! πŸ₯
β€’ You need to take your medicines every single day for at least 6 months.
β€’ WARNING: Do NOT stop taking your meds just because you feel better! Stopping early causes Multi-Drug Resistant TB (MDR-TB), which takes 18-24 months to cure and has much harsher side effects.
πŸ›‘οΈ PROTECT YOUR FAMILY:
If you or a loved one is getting treated, keep the house safe:
β€’ Cover your mouth with a tissue when coughing.
β€’ Wear a face mask.
β€’ Open your windows! Fresh air and sunlight scatter and kill TB germs. πŸŒ¬οΈβ˜€οΈ
β€’ Isolate in a separate bedroom for the first few weeks of treatment.

If you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms, don't waitβ€”visit your nearest DOH or. Book now via the NowServing app or visit: https://seriousmd.com/doc/jbrian . Early detection saves lives! ❀️
