Almost everyday, I've been hearing common history of patients saying "Doc, I've been buying online products for acne for almost a year now, and nothing seems to work".

Acne is a skin disease, that should be treated by a doctor. Acne approach is bespoke and is dependent on soooooo many factors like your skin type, your occupation, your daily routine etc etc etc.

Being checked right away by a dermatologist will save you both money and time. It will also save you from developing permanent acne scarring. You'll be surprised to know that the average amount you will spend for initial acne consult will range from 3-4k. Much less than the total cumulative amount you spend for years on treatments that doesn't work. (This doesn't apply to people whose skin responded to OTC meds, of course, lucky for you). 😉

Also, facials are not the main treatment. You're better off not having facials anywhere, just be compliant with your topical acne regimen and you wilI see results. I only advise my patients to have facial treatments done if they want to expedite healing.

Manage your expectations as well. Even with the right treatment, we don't anticipate fast results if: • you only sleep for 4 hours a day 🥱
• relies on sweets and oily food for emotional stress eating (foods high in gylcemic index)
• applies concealers/ make up foundation (I know you get conscious, but it will just add up to more skin congestion)
• drinks whey protein daily.

Patience is a virtue. With the proper treatment and lifestyle, FULL healing will take 3-4 months. Your board certified PDS dermatologists are always there to help, anywhere in the Philippines.

This is why skincare in the elderly is different from a young skin. What you have gotten accustomed to using in your adolescent years, may not be suitable anymore for older skin types, especially when you live in the mountains or near the sea, where UV index is high. Using abrasive soaps and scrubbing WILL ONLY MAKE IT WORSE. What patient suffered for almost a month is improved in 3 days with just proper topical treatment and skincare.
