Fifth Candle - The Christ Candle
Sometime traditions include a fifth candle of Advent is often called the "Christ Candle" or "Candle of Christ." It is traditionally lit on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day to symbolize the arrival of Jesus Christ, the Savior, and the culmination of the Advent season. It is typically white, symbolizing purity and the light of Christ.
Here's a prayer that can be used when lighting the fifth candle of Advent:
O Holy God, as we light this fifth candle, the Christ Candle, we celebrate the birth of Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Light of the World. As His light shines in our hearts and homes, may we remember the true meaning of Christmas – the gift of Your love and grace. Thank You for the hope, peace, joy, and love that this Advent season has brought into our lives. We welcome the birth of Jesus with open hearts and gratitude. In His name, we pray. Amen.
