April 18 at CREMDEC was a day of showing up—for ourselves and for our communities. 🌊

From understanding mental health and psychosocial support, to exploring self-awareness through the Johari Window, to practicing ESER, our barangay health workers and SK leaders leaned into the work.

These photos are a glimpse of what happens when communities are given the space to learn, reflect, and lead.

This initiative was made possible in partnership with the Cebu City Government—through the office of Hon. Michelle Abella-Cellona and the Cebu City Health Office—together with Islands and Cebu Landmasters, Inc. , and supported by Kevlar Developme, Unilab , and Kasikas, all aligned in strengthening community healthcare.

A full day of learning, reflection, and action 👋💙

From understanding mental health foundations to practicing self-awareness, the Johari Window, and ESER—our barangay leaders and SK youth didn’t just listen, they engaged.

WAVE Champions Training is about turning these into real, community-led initiatives that last.

This initiative was brought to life through Project WAVE by the Cebu Hub of the Global Shapers Community, in close collaboration with the Cebu City Government—through the office of Hon. Abella-Cellona and the Cebu City Health Office—alongside our program partners, Islands and Cebu Landmasters, Inc. , and with the support of Kevlar Development Corporation, Unilab , and Kasikas, all united in strengthening community healthcare.

From Brgy. Sudlon 1 and Brgy. Tagba-o, we saw a community ready to do more. With our LGU partners, we’re co-creating a mental health training for barangay health workers and SK leaders to empower barangays to build and sustain initiatives rooted in real needs.

This initiative was made possible in partnership with the Cebu City Government—through the office of Hon. Michelle Abella-Cellona and the Cebu City Health Office—along with our program partners, Islands Souvenirs and Cebu Landmasters, and the support of Kevlar Development Corporation, Unilab, and Kasikas, all working together to strengthen community healthcare.

Behind every number is a story.

Through Project WAVE Pillar 1, we reached 2 communities— Barangay Tagbao and Barangay Sudlon 1 —providing essential medical equipment to support their day-to-day healthcare needs.

But beyond the numbers are real people, real challenges, and real trust.

This initiative was brought to life through Project WAVE in close collaboration with the Cebu City Government—through the office of Hon. Michelle Abella-Cellona and the Cebu City Health Office—alongside our program partners, Islands and Cebu Landmasters, Inc. , and with the support of Kevlar Development Corporation, Unilab and Kasikas, all united in strengthening community healthcare.

On April 9, we had the privilege of turning over essential medical equipment to Barangay Tagbao and Barangay Sudlon 1 . Grateful for the trust of these communities—who welcomed us, shared their realities, and allowed us to listen first before taking action.

This initiative was made possible by the collaboration of the Cebu City Government—through the office of Hon. Abella-Cellona and the Cebu City Health Office—together with our program partners, Islands and Cebu Landmasters, Inc. , and the generous support of KevlarDevelopment Corporation, Unilab , and Kasikas, all sharing a commitment to strengthening community healthcare.

And grateful to be part of a community that chooses to show up, together.

This is what Project WAVE is all about 👋💙

After last year’s natural calamities, we saw how limited access to healthcare can be—especially in mountain communities. From our visits to Brgy. Sudlon 1 and Brgy. Tagba-o, this need became even clearer.

Through Pillar 1 of projectWAVE, we’re providing essential medical kits, or what we would like to call WAVE Care Kits, to support barangay health services.

A step toward more accessible care—where it’s needed most. 🤝

Access to education doesn’t always begin in a classroom. Sometimes, it begins with a single book placed in the right hands.

The LIBRO Project—Learning Initiatives through Books for Reading Opportunities—is Global Shapers Cebu’s commitment to making reading materials more accessible to communities and young learners who need them most. What started as an initiative to make reading more accessible grew into an art and reading session for children whose daily lives were altered by the natural calamities that struck Cebu in November.

In 2025, LIBRO reached communities through three meaningful legs:
📍 May 2025 – SOS Children’s Village, Talamban, Cebu
📍 December 2025 – Barangay Calamba, Cebu
📍 December 2025 – Rise Above Foundation, Guadalupe, Cebu

This initiative would not have been possible without the generosity, trust, and collaboration of our partners. Our sincere thanks to Quintin Pastrana and the Library Renewal Partnership, ACT Community Extension Services Office, and Rise Above Foundation for standing with us in creating safe and meaningful learning spaces for children.

Beyond book distribution, LIBRO represents shared responsibility—where youth leadership, collaboration, and local action come together to support education in tangible ways.

Grateful to everyone who supported, donated, volunteered, and believed in this initiative. We’re reminded that real impact doesn’t always have to be loud—it can start quietly, one page at a time 📖✨
