The Department would like to extend its warmest congratulations to our Level 2 Medical Resident, Dr. Louie Lyn Torrenueva, on the successful delivery of her Grand Rounds entitled “A Tale of Two Filipinas: The Choreography of Hyperglycemia.”

Her presentation brought to light a rare but important complication of diabetes mellitus—diabetic striatopathy—and was both intellectually engaging and clinically enriching. It was truly a worthwhile Grand Rounds that reflected her dedication, depth of knowledge, and commitment to continuing medical education.

The Department of Internal Medicine extends its sincere congratulations to Dr. Alexandra Arche for the successful completion of her Formative Case Management Conference entitled, “When White Cells Overwhelm: A Case of Newly Diagnosed Acute Myeloid Leukemia with Extreme Leukocytosis.”

The presentation was a highly engaging and insightful discussion that highlighted the clinical challenges of hyperleukocytosis and its complications, including Pseudomonas infection. We would like to congratulate our second-year resident, Dr. Thea Pepito, on the successful delivery of her first Grand Rounds held last January 14, 2026.

The session was a highly informative and worthwhile discussion on the management of coronary artery disease in patients with end-stage kidney disease and the role of coronary calcium score and revascularization strategy, providing valuable insights that will greatly benefit our residents in the care of their future patients.
