This is the story of Coach Pao Sandoval, Safehaven Recovery Village’s Recovery Coach and now a Licensed Professional Teacher.

Behind this achievement is a journey filled with silent battles, heartbreak, setbacks, and moments of darkness.

Diagnosed with Bipolar 1 Disorder in 2011, life became a constant struggle between highs and lows. There were moments of deep depression, losing touch with reality, and feeling completely broken. But despite everything, the story did not end there.
Today, Coach Pao stands as a powerful reminder that healing is possible.

From surviving difficult seasons to now helping others navigate recovery and transformation, her journey reflects the power of faith, perseverance, support, and second chances

This achievement is more than a title or a license, it is proof that no matter how difficult the journey becomes, there is still hope waiting on the other side.

There is hope! Nobody is beyond help! None is too far or too deep for the loving hand of God to reach!🙏💕

Ronnie Pedoche, called by many as “Christmas Tree” by how he looks along the streets of Mambaling! As people are entertained, he’d pose for them and just settle for passersby’s applause!

However, hunger cause him to eat whatever is available in the garbage bins, and thirst made the dirty puddle in the streets as drinkable.

Glad some concerned citizen didn’t just settle in indifference and apathy, persisted for him to be brought to Safehaven.

God is great! Safehaven’s Staff are amazing! After 6 months look at him now! Ready to reengage and be reintegrated! His mom took him from us today! Hopefully, never to return to where he was before! Praying that he’d have the much needed second chance for life!

What’s in it for me? For us at Safehaven? Just a good feeling that every Good Samaritan enjoys, the joy of knowing that we have given Ronnie Pedoche, a.k.a “Christmas Tree” an opportunity of a fighting chance, all for God’s glory!

NOT ALL ADDICTIONS START WITH “BAD CHOICES"

Sometimes, addiction begins with:
• untreated pain
• unresolved trauma
• loneliness
• anxiety or depression
• the need to escape overwhelming emotions

What may look like rebellion on the outside can actually be someone silently struggling on the inside.This is why recovery is not just about stopping a substance or behavior.

It’s about understanding the root causes, rebuilding healthy coping mechanisms, and creating a safe space for healing.

At Safehaven Recovery Village, we believe education and compassion are both important in breaking the stigma around addiction and mental health.

Because when people are understood instead of judged, healing becomes possible. ❤️

Every activity is designed with intentionality. Our Wheels of Friendship session is a prime example of how we integrate therapeutic goals into creative expression.

This activity serves a vital role in cognitive and physical rehabilitation, specifically targeting:

Neuromuscular Development: Maximizing fine motor skills and bilateral integration.

Executive Functioning: Strengthening task planning, material organization, and the ability to heed complex instructions.

Sensory Integration: Refining visual perception and hand-eye coordination.

By sustaining attention to a singular task, residents practice the discipline required for long-term recovery. We aren't just creating; we are recalibrating.

Ricarjay Gabatbat, a multi-awarded Cebuano athlete, is now safe and on his path to healing at Safehaven Recovery Village. His journey is just beginning, and we are honored to walk alongside him.

Guiding him through recovery is Coach Pao Sandoval, a licensed teacher, a Safehaven recovery coach, and once a resident herself.
