Before therapy, Kelian had difficulty walking. When supported from behind, he would instinctively raise his legs instead of stepping forward. To address this, the therapist adjusted their positioning to stand in front of him, providing visual and physical guidance. After weeks of training, Kelian has made significant progress. He can now sustain walking for a short distance with support given in front. He was also provided with Ankle Dorsiflexion Assist on both lower extremities to improve stability and alignment, helping him develop better walking patterns. The current goal is to gradually increase his endurance so he can walk from short to long distances.
Aside from walking, sitting was also a major challenge for Kelian. Initially, he struggled to maintain a stable seated position and would frequently lose balance, often falling due to improper hand use. Over time, through postural training and core strengthening exercises, he developed better stability and can now sit still without frequent loss of balance.
Kelian also faced difficulties with purposeful hand use, often throwing objects impulsively upon touching them. To help him gain better control, Hand-Over-Hand Assistance is used to guide his movements and encourage functional grasping and releasing. Through continued therapy, we aim to improve his fine motor skills, hand coordination, and overall functional independence.
From finding it difficult to sit without falling, to sitting still independently, and now progressing from standing to assisted walking, Kelian has shown incredible improvement!
Weโre so proud of Kelianโs hard work and determination! Letโs cheer him on as he continues to progress! ๐
