๐Ÿšซ Learn to identify non-carious lesions on your teeth

01/09/2025

A concerned netizen sent to us a post from a patient expressing frustration about a dental visit. While we respect everyoneโ€™s right to express themselves, we feel the need to clarify misinformation and protect both patients and the dental profession for everyone's awareness. ๐Ÿ˜‡

1. Hindi agad bunot ang solusyon. ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Dentists always assess if a tooth can still be saved. Thatโ€™s why if a tooth can still be treated and preserved through procedures like root canal treatment (RCT), that option is suggested and prioritized. Pero at the end of the day, decision pa rin ito ni patient.

2. Bakit may antibiotics at pain relievers muna?

Antibiotics and pain management are given first to control the infection before any surgical procedure. This is for the safety of the patient, not extra gastos lang.

3. Root Canal Treatment vs. Bunot โ€“ Magkaibang approach. ๐Ÿ†š

Root canal treatment (RCT): Preserves the natural tooth, allows you to still chew properly, and prevents further complications. Yes, it costs more because it requires specialized skills, tools, and multiple appointments.
Extraction: Cheaper and faster, but may lead to shifting teeth, bone loss, bite problems, and the need for dentures/implants laterโ€”which are far more costly in the long run.

4. Consultation fees ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ

Professional fees are not simply "nagsalita ka lang naman Doc". Every consultation involves proper assessment, diagnosis, and medical responsibility. Dentists spent millions to give you the best health opinion and advice, plus they allot you chair time and consumables during the visit.

5. Respect and Trust. ๐Ÿค

Threatening or disrespecting medical professionals is dangerous and unfair. Dentists are here to help, but they cannot compromise your safety just to give in to demands that may harm you in the long run.

โœ… Public Reminder: If you are unsure or feel conflicted about your treatment plan, you have the right to ask questions or even seek a second opinionโ€”but always with respect and understanding of the science and ethics behind dentistry.

๐Ÿฆท Protect your smile. Trust the process. Respect your dentist.

๐Ÿฆท Hey guys, quick reminder.Kung naka-braces ka, donโ€™t skip your monthly adjustment ha!

Hey guys, quick reminder.
Kung naka-braces ka, donโ€™t skip your monthly adjustment ha!

Hindi 'yan design lang sa ngipin guys. Treatment 'yan. ๐Ÿ’ฏ
They need monthly monitoring para gumalaw yung teeth safely and correctly.

What happens if you skip adjustments?
Hereโ€™s the real talk:

๐Ÿ”ด Delayed results โ€“
Baka instead of 2 years lang ang treatment mo, umabot ng 3 years or more!
Sayang ang time, effort, at bayad.

๐Ÿ”ด Wrong tooth movement โ€“
Without proper adjustments, your teeth might move in the wrong direction.
That means more work โ€” and possibly restarting some steps.

๐Ÿ”ด Loose wires or broken brackets โ€“
Kapag napabayaan, pwedeng makasugat sa cheeks or gums.
Uncomfortable na, unsafe pa.

๐Ÿ”ด Bone and gum issues โ€“
Your jawbone and gums are adjusting too.
Kapag hindi mo pinapa-check monthly, pwedeng magka-complications like bone loss or gum inflammation.

๐Ÿ”ด Higher risk of cavities or bad breath โ€“
Kasi walang regular check-up and cleaning, bacteria can build up around your brackets.

โœจ In short: Every adjustment counts.
Skipping one or two might seem like no big deal now โ€”
pero in the long run, ikaw rin ang magsu-suffer. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

๐Ÿคญ

Impacted wisdom teeth are third molars that don't have enough space to fully erupt in the mouth. Because of this, they often grow at odd angles โ€” pushing against the second molars. Whatโ€™s alarming is that this damage usually happens without any noticeable pain in the early stages. You might feel completely fine, while silent destruction is taking place underneath the gums.

As the impacted wisdom tooth presses against the second molar, it can slowly erode the healthy tooth's root or enamel. This constant pressure can create a trap for bacteria and food particles, increasing the risk of deep cavities, gum infections, and even bone loss between the two teeth. If left undetected, the healthy molar โ€” which is critical for chewing โ€” might end up needing a root canal, a large filling, or even extraction.

Since the process is often painless at first, many patients donโ€™t realize thereโ€™s a problem until itโ€™s too late. Thatโ€™s why dentists recommend regular X-rays during the late teens or early twenties, when wisdom teeth typically start to erupt. Catching the problem early means the difference between a simple extraction and permanent damage to your healthy teeth.

If you still have your wisdom teeth and havenโ€™t had them evaluated recently, itโ€™s worth asking your dentist for an updated scan. Early action can save your smile from long-term complications.

Many parents give their babies a bottle of milk at bedtime to help them fall asleep. While this may seem harmless, it can quietly harm your childโ€™s teeth. When a baby falls asleep with milk in their mouth, the natural sugars in milk stay on the teeth for long periods. During sleep, saliva flow reduces, making it harder for the mouth to wash away these sugars.

This creates a perfect environment for bacteria to grow. The bacteria feed on the sugars and produce acid that attacks the tooth enamel. Over time, this leads to early tooth decay โ€” especially in the upper front teeth โ€” even if your child is very young or still has only baby teeth.

This kind of decay is known as nursing bottle caries. It can cause pain, infection, and even problems with speech or eating later on. Thatโ€™s why it's important to avoid putting your child to bed with a bottle, and to clean their teeth or gums before sleep, even if they only have a few teeth. Early prevention protects their smile for life.
