As we observe , I'm sharing this meaningful throwback from exactly three years ago – a few days after I was discharged (after having a stroke). My heart overflows with gratitude when I think about the incredible outpouring of support that carried me through that challenging time.
I'm here today because of the extraordinary kindness shown by so many wonderful people: my dear UCSM students and their compassionate parents, the residents who once trained under me, my cherished batchmates, friends, and family members. Your generosity wasn't just financial – it was emotional, spiritual, and deeply personal.
Charity, at its core, springs from Divine Love. Looking back, I see God's hand in my survival through all of you. Every day since then has reinforced my belief that I still have a purpose to fulfill, a mission to complete.
To everyone who stood by me during those difficult days: your charity gave me a second chance at life. Thank you, from the depths of my heart. 🙏
"What makes my recovery even more remarkable is the location of my stroke - the left external capsule of my brain. For those curious about the medical details, this crucial area controls many essential functions.
and I could have faced:
Serious speech difficulties
Challenges in understanding others
Struggles with expressing my thoughts
Physically, I might have experienced:
Right-sided weakness or paralysis
Coordination challenges that would affect daily activities
The stroke could have also impacted my cognitive abilities, affecting:
Decision-making and planning
Memory retention
Focus and concentration
Yet here I am, not just surviving but thriving. While recovery has been a journey, my story isn't defined by what could have happened - it's shaped by what I've overcome.
With continued faith, determination, and the incredible support system around me, I'm excited about the plans ahead. Every day is a gift, and I'm ready to make the most of it. 💪✨
The future holds so much promise, and I'm just getting started!"
