AMSA-SOMA Standing Committee on Research Exchange is honored to feature 𝗗𝗿. 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘇𝗮, 𝗠𝗗, 𝗙𝗣𝗡𝗔, board-certified neurologist and a dedicated clinician-researcher specializing in movement disorders, whose career shows how curiosity can open doors across the globe.

From his training at the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 and the 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 to a prestigious fellowship at the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐨-𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 in Canada, Dr. Saranza has built a career focused in excellence and global collaboration. He actively takes part in international research and helps ensure Filipino patients are represented in neuroscience studies worldwide.

Outside his clinical and academic work, he is also a mentor who supports research training, dedicated to building the next generation of physicians. He encourages students to value research and guides them in their research work, guided by his principle: teach one, heal many.

His journey is a reminder for aspiring doctors to stay curious and use research to make a lasting impact on society.
