𝐃𝐀 𝐑𝐅𝐎 𝟕 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐬 𝐍𝐍𝐂 𝟕 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞

Cebu City - The National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region VII, under the leadership of Dr. Parolita A. Mission, was recognized by the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office VII (DA RFO VII) for its invaluable contributions to the agriculture and fishery sectors. The award was presented during the 127th Anniversary Celebration of the Department of Agriculture held on 7 July 2025, at the Golden Prince Hotel, Cebu City.

This recognition highlights NNC VII’s active role in promoting nutrition-sensitive agriculture, empowering rural communities to produce and consume diverse, nutritious food. The Council has been instrumental in integrating nutrition education into farming and livelihood programs, especially among vulnerable sectors such as farmers, fisherfolk, women, and children.

Dr. Mission expressed her gratitude and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the nutrition and agriculture sectors to achieve food security, improved health outcomes, and sustainable rural development.

Through its multi-sectoral approach, NNC 7 continues to champion the integration of nutrition in local development plans, strengthening the link between what we grow and what we eat. In celebration of the 51st Nutrition Month, various barangays across Cebu City organized 'Idol Ko Si Nanay' sessions thru City Nutrition Scholars, highlighting the vital role of mothers in promoting proper nutrition at home. These sessions were followed by culminating activities aimed at reinforcing healthy eating habits and recognizing outstanding community efforts in nutrition advocacy.

Cebu City Government thru City Nutrition Office Hosts Nutrition Forum for the Elderly in Celebration of the 51st Nutrition Month 🍉🥬🥦

As part of the 51st Nutrition Month-long celebration, the City Nutrition Office organized a Nutrition Forum for the Elderly today at the 9th Floor Community Hall, Cebu City. The event was actively participated in by senior citizens from various barangays across the city.

The forum aimed to promote healthy aging through proper nutrition and sustainable lifestyle practices. It featured informative lectures delivered by Registered Nutritionist-Dietitians, as well as engaging activities, including a salad-making demonstration. The demonstration emphasized the nutritional value of the ingredients used, helping participants better understand how to make nutritious food choices tailored to their needs.

This initiative is part of the city's ongoing efforts to promote health and wellness among the elderly population through inclusive and community-based nutrition education.
