There’s a common myth that people with schizophrenia should be isolated in mental hospitals—but that’s not the full story.

Many individuals live and recover outside of hospitals with the right support.

It’s time to shift the conversation from fear to 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞, and from isolation to 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.

🧠 In today's 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲, we discuss how a mental health condition doesn’t mean your story is over—it may just be the beginning of a deeper journey.

Freud, Horney, and Rollo May all faced emotional struggles. But instead of giving up, they leaned into the pain, searched for meaning, and transformed psychology forever.

✅ FACT: That’s a harmful stereotype. Therapy can benefit anyone—even high-functioning, successful people.

Many Filipinos grow up in environments that emphasize hiya (shame), perfection, and comparison—pressuring us to hide flaws or pretend we're okay even when we're not. But psychologist Carl Rogers, one of the pioneers of humanistic psychology, reminds us that true change doesn’t begin with fixing ourselves—but with fully accepting where we are now. It's not weakness to acknowledge our struggles; it’s the foundation of authentic growth.

Research shows that self-compassion is linked to lower levels of anxiety and depression. When we embrace who we are—with our imperfections, mistakes, at weaknesses—we become more open to learning, healing, and transforming. Instead of being stuck in a cycle of self-judgment, we unlock the power to grow from a place of kindness and understanding.

So to everyone who feels like you're not enough unless you're constantly achieving or "strong": pause. Breathe. Know that you are worthy even as you are.

Have you ever found yourself stuck in patterns—repeating the same choices, relationships, or reactions—without knowing why? According to Carl Jung, it's often our unconscious mind pulling the strings. The thoughts, memories, and emotions we suppress or avoid don’t disappear; instead, they influence our decisions from the shadows.

Psychologists say that as much as 90% of our behavior may be driven by unconscious processes. These include deeply rooted beliefs, past traumas, or learned habits that we’re not always aware of. Left unexamined, they become what we think is "just the way life is." But it's not fate—it’s programming. And it can be changed.

Jung believed that self-awareness is the first step to transformation. When we dare to confront our inner world—through reflection, therapy, mindfulness, or journaling—we start reclaiming our power. What once felt inevitable becomes a choice. As Viktor Frankl once said, “𝘽𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙪𝙡𝙪𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙚, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚. 𝙄𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙚.”

This isn’t just psychology—it’s freedom. ₊ ⊹

At DDH, we’re not just working — we’re working on ourselves.

Featured in the second episode of our Self-Care Drive are our doctors and employees, recharging through physical activities like boxing, running, biking, and pilates. 💪🧘‍♀️🚴‍♂️ More than just exercise, it’s self-care in motion—boosting mental health through movement, connection, and shared motivation.

This is part of the DDH Wellness Movement: Self-Care Drive for DDH Employees and doctors, because taking care of ourselves allows us to better care for others.

This is our self-care, what's yours?
