What is sensory integration?
Sensory integration describes how the brain 🧠 receives, organize and respond to sensory input from our body and environment. It basically means how we experience and interpret the information or input coming from our senses. There are five basic senses, and these are for sight 👀, hearing 👂, smell 👃, taste 👅, and touch✋🏻; however there are still three additional senses that are important which are the vestibular sense 🏃♀️ for balance and movement, proprioception for body awareness🧍🏻♀️,and interoception 🧏♀️ which is the awareness of the body’s internal senses.
Last August 15, 2025, Neo-Prime SPED and Therapy center had a seminar about sensory integration led by Sir Roni Romeo Ocubillo. This seminar provided us more knowledge as to how we can further help our kids with special needs. It was an opportunity for us, teachers and therapists, to interact and share each other’s knowledge.
