School-Based Immunization Launching 2025 πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’›

Despite the heat, it was a fulfilling and meaningful day as we officially launched the School-Based Immunization Program in the Municipality of Cordon!
The event began with a solemn invocation, followed by a warm welcome message from Ma’am Lilia Salguet, OIC of Cordon South Central School. We also heard inspiring messages from Ma’am Charlita Mariano, our SB on Health followed Nurse Levy Aguilar, who gave an orientation on the Measles-Rubella (MR) and Tetanus-Diphtheria (Td)vaccines while Dr. Loudette Navarro, discussed the HPV vaccine. And a very special moment with Dr. Judith Olay-Alacar, one of Cordon’s distinguished pediatricians, who shared the importance of vaccines and gave a brief yet impactful discussion on each.

The highlight of the morning was a simultaneous ceremonial vaccination of Grade 1 and Grade 4 student volunteers – a strong symbol of our united efforts to protect our youth!

In the afternoon, we were warmly welcomed by OIC Farjana Cacal of Capirpiriwan Elementary School. A heartfelt welcome message was delivered by Kagawad on Health, Mr. Loreto Esperanzate, followed by another motivating message from our SB on Health, and a brief vaccine orientation.

Another ceremonial vaccination was conducted, joined by student volunteers and cheered on by proud parents and teachers.

Our deepest gratitude to the Local Government Unit of Cordon, led by Mayor Florenz M. Zuniega and Vice Mayor Lynn Zuniega-Dy, and SB Charlita Mariano for their unwavering support to all DOH programs. VM Lynn also graced the Capirpiriwan session, encouraging parents to have their children protected through vaccines.

A heartfelt thank you to our BNS, BHWs, nurses, and midwives for their hard work in making this launch a success β€” and to the parents, teachers, and students for your active participation.

We would like to thank and acknowledge the presence of our DepEd Nurses, Ma’am Mellowin Leano and Sirikit Joy fernandez
and our DOH School NDP Clarisse Domingo for their help, assistance, and unwavering support were truly instrumental in the smooth conduct of the activities.

πŸ“Œ The Rural Health Unit is targeting 100% coverage for MR, Td, and HPV vaccines. A series of vaccinations will continue at respective catchment areas in the coming weeks.

Together, let’s protect our children and build a healthier future! πŸ’ͺπŸ’‰

RCM SUCCESS IN CORDON!
We are proud to share the successful conduct of the 5-day Rapid Convenience Monitoring (RCM) across 14 barangays in the Municipality of Cordon!

Based on the findings, a total of 319 children across various age groups were found to have received timely vaccinations with no missed doses:
πŸ‘Ά 130 children (0–11 months)
πŸ§’ 80 children (12–23 months)
πŸ‘§ 109 children (24–59 months)

ALL 14 barangays PASSED the RCM assessment β€” a testament to the dedication and hard work of our healthcare teams in ensuring every child is protected through timely immunization.
We commend the active participation of our midwives and nurses, whose tireless efforts ensured comprehensive coverage and timely interventions across all assessed areas. Your commitment is the backbone of our public health success!

A heartfelt thank you to Ma’am Maricel M. De Vera, our DOH Isabela Raider/Vaccinator, for her dedication and expertise during the conduct of the RCM.

As we celebrate this success, we also look ahead. We encourage the Municipality of Cordon to conduct an internal RCM in remaining barangays where vaccination coverage assessments were not yet performed, to ensure full and inclusive monitoring.

We are proud of what we’ve achieved β€” and we remain committed to continuing our best practices in public health service. Together, we build a healthier Cordon! πŸ’š

As part of our commitment to respond to every case of dengue fever in our municipality, the Environmental health and Sanitation Team promptly conducted both outdoor and indoor residual spraying in affected households. Indoor spraying was also carried out in nearby homes as a preventive measure. The Cordon Rural Health Unit encourages every household to actively search for and destroy mosquito breeding sites, and to keep their surroundings clean and dry.

Special thanks to our dedicated sprayman, Joefred Esperanzate Acdal who continued his work even over the weekend to help protect our community.
