MOH-BARMM Guarantees the Health and Safety of Hajj Pilgrims by Providing Free Vaccinations
Cotabato City - The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos โ Bureau of Pilgrimage and Endowment (NCMF-BPE), in collaboration with the Department of Health - Bureau of Quarantine (DOH-BOQ) and the Ministry of Health in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOH-BARMM), conducted a free vaccination program for Muslim-Filipino Hajj pilgrims, held at Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Center (SKCC), Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City, on April 13 to 15, 2026.
This initiative, strongly supported by the MOH-BARMM, aims to ensure the health and safety of all individuals preparing to undertake the sacred pilgrimage, especially as Hajj gathers nearly one million participants from different parts of the world, increasing the risk of exposure to communicable diseases.
To address this, the program provided free administration of two essential vaccines, namely the Meningococcal vaccine and the Influenza (flu) vaccine, which help protect against serious infectious diseases commonly associated with large gatherings. The vaccination activity recorded a total of 569 pilgrims on April 13, 2026, followed by 451 pilgrims along with an additional 16 pilgrims from General Santos City on April 14, 2026, while on April 15, 2026, a free-flow schedule was implemented with an estimated 100 individuals, including pilgrims and medical staff, receiving vaccinations.
This collaborative effort reflects the governmentโs commitment to public health by ensuring that every Muslim-Filipino Hajj pilgrim is physically prepared and protected before, during, and after their journey as they fulfill their religious obligation.
