𝟲𝟬 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗸𝗮-𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗲

Abot ng 60 na mga residente ng Barangay Nungguan sa Malidegao sa Special Geographic Area (SGA) ng Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao ang nabigyan ng libreng mga reading glasses sa panibagong medical mission ng tanggapan ng isang kasapi ng BARMM parliament at mga public service volunteers nitong Huwebes, September 25, 2025.

Sa ulat nitong Biyernes, September 26, ng mga local executives sa Malidegao, isang bagong tatag na municipality sa SGA ng autonomous region sa Cotabato province, 82 na iba pa, kabilang ang mga buntis, mga bata at senior citizens, ang nasuri at nabigyan ng mga gamot para sa ibat-ibang mga karamdaman ng medical mission team ng doctor na si Kadil Sinolinding, Jr., isa sa 80 na mga miyembro ng Bangsamoro parliament at kasalukuyang health minister din ng rehiyon,

Magkatuwang ang tanggapan ni Minister Sinolinding, isang physician-ophthalmologist na nagpakadalubhasa sa India, ang Ministry of Health, ang pribadong Deseret Surgimed Hospital sa Kabacan, Cotabato at si BARMM Chief Minister sa isinagawang medical mission sa Barangay Nungguan, kung saan may nasuri din na 24 na mga residenteng may mga cataract at pterygium ang mga mata, nakatakda ng sasailalim sa kaukulang medical interventions.

May siyam na iba pang residente ang sasailalim sa X-ray kaugnay ng kanilang mga karamdaman na isasagawa sa isang hospital sa tulong ng naturang medical mission team.

Unang namigay ang naturang grupo ng mga relief supplies at bigas sa 53 na mga pamilya sa Barangay Toreta sa Libungan, Cotabato nitong Miyerkules, September 24.

Nagtulungan ang Rural Health Unit ng Pahamuddin, isa ding BARMM municipality sa SGA, at ang grupo nila Doctor Sinolinding sa naturang relief distribution activity.

Abot ng 53 na pamilyang mahihirap sa Barangay Toreta ang nakabenepisyo sa naturang relief mission, ayon sa mga community leaders ng naturang lugar.

𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐂 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓: 𝐁𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐌, 𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐊𝐀𝐔𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐆 𝐑𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐍𝐀 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐀 𝐒𝐀 𝐅𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐒

Isang makasaysayang tagumpay ang naitala sa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) matapos opisyal na ideklara ng Department of Health (DOH) na Lymphatic Filariasis-Free ang tatlong probinsya—Basilan, Maguindanao, at Sulu—kasama ang Lamitan City.

Ipinahayag ni Dr. Anna Marie Celina G. Garfin, Director IV ng DOH Disease Prevention and Control Bureau, na ang deklarasyong ito ay bunga ng mahigit isang dekadang pagtutulungan ng DOH, MOH-BARMM, mga lokal na pamahalaan, at development partners upang wakasan ang sakit.

Sa ilalim ng Lymphatic Filariasis Elimination Program (LFEP), matagumpay na naisagawa ang Mass Drug Administration (MDA), Transmission Assessment Surveys, Morbidity Management and Disability Prevention (MMDP), at malawakang health education campaigns na naging susi sa pagkamit ng zero case status.

Ayon kay Bangsamoro Health Minister Dr. Kadil M. Sinolinding, Jr., higit 13 taon ang ginugol ng mga health workers at stakeholders upang makamit ang milestone na ito. Binilinan niya ang lahat na ipagpatuloy ang pagsisikap upang mapanatili ang “Filariasis-Free” status ng rehiyon.

Sa isang video message, DOH Secretary Teodoro J. Herbosa ay nagpaabot ng pagbati at tinawag na “historic” ang deklarasyon. Kasabay nito, kinilala rin ni Dr. Bayo S. Fatunmbi ng World Health Organization (WHO) ang dedikasyon ng mga komunidad at health frontliners na naging bahagi ng kampanya.

Kasama ring nagbigay ng pasasalamat sina Dr. Mohammad Arif Baguindali (IPHO Maguindanao), Dr. Nhamier Jikiri (IPHO Sulu), Dr. Saifunnasri Hajan (Basilan), at Dr. Maria Susana Gayle Macainag (Lamitan City) na nangakong patuloy na isusulong ang pagpapanatili ng malinis na record laban sa Filariasis.

Ito ang kauna-unahang pagkakataon na isang rehiyon sa buong Pilipinas—ang BARMM—ay opisyal na kinilalang Lymphatic Filariasis-Free.

Bilang pagkilala, tumanggap ng ₱100,000 ang bawat probinsya at ₱50,000 para sa Lamitan City mula sa Ministry of Health–BARMM.

Ang seremonya ay pinangunahan ni Mrs. Soraida D. Amilil, RN, MPA, Filariasis Program Coordinator ng MOH-BARMM, sa pangangasiwa ni Dr. Alexander U. Ampatuan at sa pamumuno ni Minister Sinolinding, katuwang ang mga opisyal ng MOH, IPHOs, DOH at WHO.

217 villagers in Cotabato town benefit from medical mission

More than 200 residents of Barangay Anick in Pigcawayan town in Cotabato, including children and pregnant women, benefitted from a medical mission of their provincial government on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

Local executives and Shirlyn Macasarte-Villanueva, an incumbent Sangguniang Panlalawigan member, separately told reporters on Thursday, September 18, that the outreach activity the office of Gov. Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza was spearheaded by combined personnel of the Provincial Health Office and the Integrated Provincial Health Office-Cotabato.

Community leaders in Barangay Anick in Pigcawayan said 217 villagers, among them children and elderly folks with common illnesses, were examined by physicians then and were immediately provided with free medicines for various ailments.

A number of pregnant women from different areas in Anick, an agricultural area, also received vitamin supplements from their provincial government, according to municipal and barangay officials.

The activity was also supported by Eliseo Garcesa, Jr., a provincial consultant on governance in Taliño-Mendoza’s office. Garcesa is a resident of Pigcawayan, one of the 17 towns in Cotabato.

86 poor Tawi-Tawi villagers undergo free ophthalmic surgery

COTABATO CITY (Monday, September 8, 2025) — Up to 86 marginalized villagers from different barangays in Bongao and in other island towns in Tawi-Tawi underwent free cataract and pterygium surgery during a three-day multi-sector eye care mission last week.

Provincial officials and ranking employees in the office of Tawi-Tawi Gov. Yshmael Sali, told reporters in Cotabato City on Monday, September 8, that the physicians from the Ministry of Health-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region had also provided with free reading glasses 200 other elderly residents of Bongao during their September 2 to 4 medical outreach mission in the municipality.

The island Bongao town is one of the 11 municipalities in Tawi-Tawi, a component-province of the BARMM.

Regional Health Minister Kadil Sinolinding, Jr. had told reporters that the medical mission was supported by Sali, now in his second term as governor, the physician Sangkula Laja, who is chief of the Tawi-Tawi Integrated Provincial Health Office, and the employees of the Datu Halun Sakilan Memorial Hospital in Bongao.

The physician-ophthalmologist Sinolinding, also functioning as member of the 80-seat Bangsamoro parliament in concurrent capacity, said most of the cataract and pterygium patients that they have treated relied mainly on menial jobs as sources of income for the the daily needs of their families.

“We are thankful to the medical team from the Bangsamoro regional government for having done this medical mission for the poor residents of our province,” Sali said.

Sali said he is also grateful to BARMM’s chief minister, Abdulrauf Macacua, for sending the team of Sinolinding to Bongao for the three-day eye care mission.

The medical mission was initiated as part of last week’s 52nd Kamahardikaan sin Tawi-Tawi festivities, in celebration of the 52nd founding anniversary of the island province.

The oldest eye patient who underwent ophthalmic surgery during the outreach activity in Bongao is the 91-year-old Asia Abdulla, according to a post mission report by the MoH-BARMM.

Another eye patient, the 65-year-old Abbas Gamal, a resident of Tandubas, also an island town, was quoted in radio reports as saying that he was lucky that his cataract was treated free by eye surgeons led by Sinolinding since his family could not afford the cost of travel to Zamboanga City for treatment.

“We are grateful to all of those who facilitated this medical mission. With my eyesight restored, I can again work to earn money for the daily expenses of my family,” a beneficiary of the humanitarian activity, the 60-year Ubah Hairol, said in Filipino in a video shared to reporters by medics.
