The Ministry of Health - BARMM, through its Malasakit Program Unit, was honored with a Plaque of Appreciation from the Honorable Vice President Sara Z. Duterte during the 2025 OVP Pasidungog held on June 16, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center, Lanang, Davao City.

The award was received by Ms. Napla A. Abdulkadir, RN, MPA, the Malasakit Program Unit Support Focal, in recognition of the unit’s unwavering commitment to delivering compassionate and accessible healthcare services to indigent and financially incapacitated patients across the Bangsamoro region.

The recent General Assembly of the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIFIP) Program was successfully held in San Juan, La Union, from June 3 to 6, 2025; along with the attendees were the Undersecretary of Health Dr. Emmie Liza Perez-Chiong and Ms. Allison C. Umandap, RN, MSN, OIC-Director IV of the Malasakit Program Office from the National Office. MOH Malasakit Program Unit personnel were also invited to participate in the activity.

This assembly aimed to strengthen coordination mechanisms, enhance implementation strategies, and address operational concerns to ensure more efficient and responsive delivery of medical assistance to the most vulnerable sectors of society.A heartfelt thank you to the DOH Ilocos Regional Office for graciously hosting this important and impactful event.

🚨 MPOX Advisory – As of June 4, 2025 🚨

According to the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) of the Ministry of Health – BARMM:

Seven (7) additional suspect cases were reported today, June 4, 2025. A total of thirty-nine (39) monkeypox cases were reported from May 5, 2025, to June 4, 2025, excluding those with negative results. Of these, there are twenty-four (24) suspected cases, seven (7) probable cases, and eight (8) confirmed cases. All suspect cases await laboratory test results.

These were three (3) negative laboratory results sent today (June 4, 2025) from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM). As such, the total number of negative cases from May 5, 2025, to June 4, 2025, is twelve (12)

The distribution of cases across provinces and cities within the region.

Cotabato City (18) cases
Maguindanao Del Sur (12) cases
Maguindanao Del Norte (9) cases

Notably, no deaths have been reported this year

MPOX is a communicable disease, but it is preventable with proper hygiene and safety measures.

✔️ Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing
✔️ Ensure proper ventilation
✔️ Wash hands regularly with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer
✔️ Avoid close contact with individuals showing symptoms of MPOX

⚠️ Watch for Symptoms:
1️⃣ Skin rash or lesions with fever
2️⃣ Swollen lymph nodes, sore throat
3️⃣ Muscle aches, back pain
4️⃣ Headache, low energy

The Ministry of Health – BARMM’s Malasakit Program Unit held a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing and orientation for the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIFIP) Program.

The event marked the formal inclusion of ten (10) new hospitals into the MAIFIP network: Hijrah Hospital, Premier Medical Center Zamboanga, Dr. Jose Ma. Torres Memorial Foundation Hospital, Inc., Kabacan Polymedic Cooperative Hospital, Mindanao Doctors Hospital and Center, Inc., St. Pius Hospital, Tacurong Doctor’s Hospital, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Inc., Sulaik Clinic and Hospital, and Mindalano Specialist Hospital Foundation, Inc., thereby expanding access to medical assistance for Bangsamoro patients.
The ceremony was led by Minister of Health Dr. Kadil M. Sinolinding, Jr., and facilitated by Malasakit Program Unit Head Ms. Baby Norbaina M. Caludtag, RN, MPA. In attendance were the Chiefs of Hospitals and official representatives from the partner institutions, together with key officials from the Ministry of Health, including Deputy Minister Dr. Zul Qarneyn M. Abas, Assistant Secretary Dr. Abdulhalik M. Kasim, Director II for Technical Services Dr. Ahmad-Fawadz A. Israel, Chief of Information Technology and Communication Division Aisha Aloha S. Enampadan, RN, JD, Chief of Legal Division Atty. Jeihan Jein M. Gulo, RN, Finance and Management Officer Atty. Ibrahim M. Disomancgop, CPA, SAO-Cashier IV Faodziyah K. Camsa, MPA, and Regional Accountant IV Sadic S. Batua, CPA, LLB.

This joint effort reflects the Ministry’s ongoing mission to provide compassionate and accessible healthcare to all Bangsamoro patients. By strengthening partnerships and expanding the reach of its healthcare programs, the Ministry aims to uphold its mission of delivering equitable and accessible medical assistance to all Bangsamoro constituents, wherever they reside.

The Malasakit Program Unit of the Ministry of Health successfully conducted a monitoring and evaluation visit to private and military hospitals in Maguindanao province, utilizing MAIFIPP funds, from April 14-16, 2025. The visited hospitals included:

Eros Paglas Hospital
Abpi-Samama Lying In Clinic and Hospital
Guindulangan Doctors Hospital
Jhalilnor Hospital
Camp Salipada Hospital (Military Hospital)

This initiative aims to ensure effective utilization of funds and enhance healthcare outcomes in the region.
