The Malasakit Program Team, under the leadership of Ms. Baby Norbaina M. Caludtiag, RN, MPA, conducted its Intensive Annual Monitoring and Evaluation of Funds and Implementation of the Malasakit Program – Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients Program (MAIFIPP) in the Province of Lanao del Sur and Marawi City from September 1–6, 2025, as part of its oversight of the program.

The activity aimed to assess the program’s implementation and ensure that it continues to address the needs of patients facing financial barriers in accessing healthcare services.

This monitoring and evaluation activity reinforced MAIFIPP’s objectives of providing equitable healthcare support. By strengthening collaboration between public and private healthcare facilities, the Malasakit Program Unit seeks to enhance the quality, accessibility, and sustainability of medical services for the most vulnerable populations in the Bangsamoro region.

The proactive evaluation underscores the Unit’s commitment to continuous improvement and effective healthcare delivery, ensuring that MAIFIPP remains responsive to the needs of indigent and financially incapacitated patients.

The Malasakit Program Unit also extends its heartfelt gratitude to the partner hospitals for their unwavering cooperation in the program’s implementation and for bringing happiness and hope to the Bangsamoro people through accessible medical assistance.

The Malasakit Program Unit team recently conducted a pivotal ocular visit and orientation at Castillon-Gaurana General Hospital and Lebak Family Doctor's Hospital in Lebak, Sultan Kudarat on July 24-25, 2025.

This strategic initiative aimed to establish a solid foundation for successful MAIFIPP implementation, ultimately enhancing healthcare accessibility for the region's vulnerable populations.

With the Medical Assistance for Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIFIP) Program, the Ministry of Health ensures that quality healthcare is within reach. Together, we're making healthcare a reality for the Bangsamoro people.

The Malasakit Program Unit has made a significant impact on the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) by providing critical support to 14,312 financially incapacitated and indigent patients for the 2nd Quarter of 2025.

Through its dedicated efforts, the program has ensured that these individuals receive essential medical care, alleviating the financial burdens that often accompany healthcare needs.

By fostering a compassionate and inclusive healthcare environment, the Malasakit Program Unit exemplifies the true spirit of community service and dedication, striving to improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable members of the BARMM community.

🚨 MPOX Advisory – As of June 4, 2025 🚨

According to the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) of the Ministry of Health – BARMM:

Seven (7) additional suspect cases were reported today, June 4, 2025. A total of thirty-nine (39) monkeypox cases were reported from May 5, 2025, to June 4, 2025, excluding those with negative results. Of these, there are twenty-four (24) suspected cases, seven (7) probable cases, and eight (8) confirmed cases. All suspect cases await laboratory test results.

These were three (3) negative laboratory results sent today (June 4, 2025) from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM). As such, the total number of negative cases from May 5, 2025, to June 4, 2025, is twelve (12)

Maguindanao Del Sur (12) cases
Maguindanao Del Norte (9) cases

Notably, no deaths have been reported this year

MPOX is a communicable disease, but it is preventable with proper hygiene and safety measures.

✔️ Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing
✔️ Ensure proper ventilation
✔️ Wash hands regularly with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer
✔️ Avoid close contact with individuals showing symptoms of MPOX

⚠️ Watch for Symptoms:
1️⃣ Skin rash or lesions with fever
2️⃣ Swollen lymph nodes, sore throat
3️⃣ Muscle aches, back pain
4️⃣ Headache, low energy
