𝗕𝗨𝗛𝗔𝗬 𝗔𝗬 𝗠𝗔𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗚𝗔, 𝗥𝗔𝗕𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗔𝗬 𝗛𝗨𝗪𝗔𝗚 𝗜𝗣𝗔𝗚𝗪𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗔𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗔!

In observance of Rabies Awareness Month this March, the Department of Family and Community Medicine of Region 1 Medical Center actively participates in and supports the Department of Health’s campaign to eliminate rabies as a public health threat.

Rabies is a 100% vaccine-preventable disease. While it is almost always fatal once symptoms appear, it can be completely prevented through timely vaccination—both through pre-exposure prophylaxis for high-risk individuals and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) administered immediately after an animal bite.

This initiative highlights the importance of responsible pet ownership, regular vaccination of dogs and cats, proper wound care, and prompt consultation following animal bites. Through sustained community engagement and health promotion, we remain committed to achieving a rabies-free Philippines.
