| BRHMC Health Caravan Team – Day 3 Wrap-Up

The Bicol Regional Hospital and Medical Center (BRHMC) Health Caravan Team successfully concluded its three-day medical mission on July 24, 2025, at the Juan M. Alberto (JMA) Memorial District Hospital in San Andres, Catanduanes. This outreach marks another meaningful milestone in BRHMC’s ongoing commitment to bring compassionate, accessible healthcare to the communities of the “Happy Island.”

From July 21 to 24, a total of 486 patients received a wide array of free medical services, including:

• Kilatis Kutis (Derma Consultations)
• Mental Health Services
• Surgical Procedures (Excision, Herniorrhaphy, Surgical Consults)
• Family Planning Services (BTL, PSI & IUD Insertion, Counseling)
• OB-Gyne Consultation
• Cancer Screening and Treatment (VIA and Thermal Ablation)
• Dental Services(Extraction, Consultations, Prophylaxis, Fluoride Application, Fillings)
• HIV Counseling and Screening

Dr. Raoul Emmanuel O. Zantua, Head of the BRHMC Public Health Unit, emphasized a longstanding partnership with Catanduanes, highlighting that this annual health mission has been ongoing for over a decade. “We remain deeply committed to serving the Catandunganons and strengthening our presence in the island,” he shared.

In a similar spirit, Dr. Renee Myla A. Balang, Head of the BRHMC Bicol Cancer Center, announced the forthcoming opening of the Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Services (BUCAS) Center in Virac. She noted that BRHMC aims to establish Catanduanes as a pilot province for innovative and responsive cancer care, reinforcing its role as a regional leader in oncology services.

This mission would not have been possible without the warm support and collaboration of the Provincial Health Office of Catanduanes, JMA Memorial District Hospital, and the Local Government of Catanduanes—thank you for your hospitality and partnership.

On the second day of the BRHMC Health Caravan, more residents of San Andres and nearby areas availed of free medical services including Kilatis Kutis (derma) consultations, dental procedures (consultations, oral prophylaxis, fluoride application, tooth fillings, and tooth extractions), cancer screenings, family planning consultations, mental health services, HIV counseling and screening, and free medicine distribution. Minor and major surgical operations also continued, helping those in need of urgent care.

The Health Caravan ran from July 21 to 24, 2025 at Juan M. Alberto (JMA) Memorial District Hospital, bringing accessible, quality healthcare closer to the community.

| BRHMC Health Caravan Team - Day 1

Day 1 of the BRHMC Health Caravan Team offered various medical services including Kilatis Kutis (derma) consultations, dental consultations and tooth extractions, cancer screenings, family planning consultations, mental health consultations, HIV counseling and screening, and medicine dispensing. They’ve also performed several minor and major surgery operations.

The Health Caravan was open from July 21 to 24, 2025 at Juan M. Alberto (JMA) Memorial District Hospital and is open to all residents of San Andres and nearby areas. This initiative brings essential health services closer to the community, especially to those with limited access to hospitals and specialists.

Huwag matakot magpa-HIV test. Kung magpositibo man, may libre at epektibong gamutan para mapanatili ang malusog na pamumuhay. 💊👍

Mula March 2024 hanggang March 2025, 88% ng mga PLHIV na naka-enroll sa antiretroviral therapy (ART) at sumailalim sa viral load test ay natukoy na virally suppressed. Patunay ito na ang tuloy-tuloy na ART para sa mga PLHIV ay nakatutulong para mas mabilis nilang maabot ang Undetectable = Untransmittable status.

Ginawa nang mas madali at mabilis ang access ng mga Pilipino sa HIV testing ngayon.

Kung ikukumpara noon, aabot sa pitong araw hanggang tatlong linggo bago malaman ang HIV status ng isang tao sa pamamagitan ng confirmatory test. Ngayon, isang araw lang ang kakailanganin para makuha ang resulta. Maaaring makuha ang HIV confirmatory test sa 168 rHIVda laboratories.

Ang confirmatory test ay kailangan para sa mga nagkaroon ng reactive result sa initial HIV test.

𝗖𝗦𝗖 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗛𝗜𝗩, 𝗔𝗜𝗗𝗦 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗴𝗼𝘃’𝘁 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀

All government agencies should establish and implement their respective Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV and AIDS) workplace policies.

This was directed yesterday by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) as it issued the Enhanced Guidelines in the Implementation of Workplace Policy and Education Program on HIV and AIDS in the Public Sector through CSC Resolution No. 2500398 promulgated on 23 May 2025.

The guidelines prescribe measures which agencies may undertake such as education and awareness-raising on HIV and AIDS, provision of support and/or access to information on HIV and AIDS-related services, promotion of a safe work environment through occupational health and safety standards and fostering confidentiality and non-discriminatory practices against persons living with HIV and AIDS.
