Another Legitimate Media Outlet/Agency shutdown…

RAPPLER STATEMENT

In an order dated June 28, our Securities and Exchange Commission affirmed its earlier decision to revoke the certificates of incorporation of Rappler Inc and Rappler Holdings Corporation. We were notified by our lawyers of this ruling that effectively confirmed the shutdown of Rappler.

We are entitled to appeal this decision and will do so, especially since the proceedings were highly irregular.

Maging tapat at makatarungan nawa kaming mamamayan.

Amen.

SAMBOTO is one with KONTRA-DAYA in its call for Public Vigilance before, during, and after May 9 elections.

ADVISORY: Together with various groups and individuals, Kontra Daya is a signatory to a call for public vigilance as the elections draw near. https://www.facebook.com/kontra.daya/posts/4544299829002847

A statement calling for public vigilance ahead of the May 9 national and local elections was released today signed by various groups and formations led by election watchdogs, religious leaders, academics, artists, media groups, health workers, labor networks, professionals, and political parties.

Below is the full statement and the list of signatories:

A Call For Vigilance

We are citizens who are ready to defend the future of our nation and democracy.

We believe that a peaceful, clean, and honest election is crucial for the next government to effectively lead the people in addressing urgent concerns such as pandemic recovery, job creation, and social justice.

We will remain vigilant before, during, and after elections as we resist vote manipulation, disinformation, violence, and abuse of power.

We will reject any attempt to subvert the people’s choice and hold accountable all those who conspire to steal our hope for a better Philippines.

We ask all candidates to affirm their pledge of promoting good governance. We remind authorities to fulfill their duties without undermining the credibility of the election process.

We enjoin fellow Filipinos to guard our votes as we value the lives of our family and friends, the future of our country, and the next generation.

Let the people decide. Let truth and fairness prevail.
