In times such as these, when governments are oppressing and restricting God’s people, we need to be careful about falling into the same mistake as these two disciples by overlooking Jesus’ first coming. Him dying for our sins is greater than Him changing our circumstances. Him changing our eternal destiny by washing us in His own blood is better than delivering us from oppressive governments. That day is coming, He is going to sit on David’s throne someday and rule the nations with a rod of iron. We long for that day. We look forward to that day. We even feel like we need that day.
