...The future of legal growing in the Czech Republic

Beginning 1 January, 2026, the Czech Republic will decriminalise recreational cannabis possession and home cultivation for adults aged 21 and over. The new rules allow each person to grow up to three female cannabis plants indoors or outdoors. Up to 100 grams of dried flower can be stored at home and up to 25 grams can be carried in public.

There is no requirement for formal registration. However, exceeding the limits will result in penalties. Four or five plants is classified as a misdemeanour. Six or more plants is considered a felony. In the early stages, the government is expected to focus on education rather than harsh punishment. For hobby growers the new framework brings freedom combined with clear boundaries. Overall, it is a grower friendly model that prioritises safety and responsible behaviour.

🇵🇭 CANNA NEWS OUT OF THE PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭

The movement to legalise medical cannabis is gaining serious momentum.

A new bill – House Bill 10439 – has been approved in the Philippine House of Representatives, opening the door to regulated access for patients with qualifying medical conditions under strict medical supervision.

In the Senate, a separate measure – Senate Bill 2573 – is also underway, with lawmakers expressing optimism that medical cannabis laws could finally move forward.

For now, cannabis remains illegal in the country — but this is the closest the Philippines has ever been to allowing medical use. 🌱

If passed into law, the legislation could reshape healthcare options for thousands of Filipinos living with chronic pain, seizures, cancer-related symptoms and more.

💬 Could medical cannabis become a turning point in Philippine healthcare?

A physician-led medical cannabis clinic established within a geriatric primary care practice supported diverse older adults with complex medical needs over 30 months. This integration helped assess risks, manage drug interactions, and improve communication with other healthcare providers, enhancing safety. The clinic model showed that combining medical cannabis with primary care for seniors is a viable approach. http://ms.spr.ly/6183toPdH

President Donald Trump today signed an executive order directing the federal government to begin reclassifying cannabis from a Schedule I to a Schedule III controlled substance under the Controlled Substances Act, marking one of the most significant federal shifts in U.S. drug policy in decades.

Since 1970, cannabis has been classified as a Schedule I substance, a category reserved for drugs considered to have no accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse, alongside substances such as he**in and L*D. The new order instructs the attorney general to initiate the process to move cannabis into Schedule III, a classification for substances with moderate to low potential for dependence that recognizes legitimate medical use, similar to drugs like ketamine and anabolic steroids.
