A Milestone in Advanced Cancer Care: First Laparoscopic Radical Cystectomy at Brokenshire Medical Center

A significant milestone in advanced cancer care was achieved at Brokenshire Medical Center on January 18, 2026, with the successful performance of our first Laparoscopic Radical Cystectomy with Bilateral Pelvic Lymph Node Dissection and Extracorporeal Ileal Conduit.

This groundbreaking procedure, performed on a patient with Stage II Invasive Urothelial Carcinoma, showcases our commitment to delivering advanced, evidence-based cancer care through expert collaboration.

Led by Urologic Oncologist Dr. Jay‑R Enojo, with Dr. Porferio Serrano III, Dr. Mevy Galicia, Dr. Al-Amin Manebpel, and anesthesiologists Dr. Tiffany Anyog‑Lu and Dr. Cristabelle Toh, the multidisciplinary team ensured optimal care. Pre-surgery chemotherapy was managed by Medical Oncologist Dr. Abdiel Galicia, with Cardiologist Dr. Lilibeth Araniego overseeing co-management.

This milestone sets a strong precedent for the future of urologic cancer care at BMC.
