Part 1/6 of our Mercer Labs experience, and the One Piece-themed installation in the main hall already felt unreal.

Would you call this art or an experience?

24/03/2026

I canโ€™t believe I developed a love-hate relationship with the Statue of Liberty.

The crown was exclusive but the exhaustion was free.

I wanted the experience but my feet wanted a lawsuit.

Part 3/3 of our Statue of Liberty experience, and by this point, I was completely exhausted. ๐Ÿ—ฝโ˜•

I almost could not move my feet anymore, so the elevator felt less like convenience and more like divine intervention.

After that, we explored the museum, which was honestly such a good reset. It walked us through how the statue was built, its historical significance, cultural impact, movie references, and famous quotes.

On the boat back to New York, we passed another island with the governorโ€™s castle and ended the whole experience with hot cocoa in hand. Windblown, tired, slightly dramatic, but very happy we did it.

We got the crown, the history, and lower body betrayal.

Would you still say this was worth it after hearing how tired I was?

23/03/2026

You want the crown? Earn it.

Part 2/3 of our Statue of Liberty experience.

This was the part where the adventure became oddly specific. ๐Ÿ—ฝ

LOCKERS, FOG, NARROW STAIRS, CROWN

First, you have to deposit your things in a locker. Bring a quarter, because apparently even iconic landmarks believe in exact change. No coins? They do have a machine that turns bills into quarters, which honestly felt like part of the experience.

The climb to the pedestal was manageable, but the weather gave us full cinematic fog because of the incoming storm. From there, we went straight up the narrow, winding staircase to the crown. Tight space, endless steps, zero glamourโ€ฆ but yes, we made it to the top. I came for the crown, not the survival challenge.Exclusive crown access came with cardio.

Would you do the crown climb, or would the narrow stairs humble you too?

Part 1/3 of our Statue of Liberty crown experience. ๐Ÿ—ฝโœจ

This Statue of Liberty experience is not for last-minute planners. Getting Crown tickets was harder than getting some concert tickets.

We reserved crown tickets more than 2 months in advance because theyโ€™re very limited and not easy to get.

From New York, we boarded the boat to Liberty Island, we thought this would be a normal ferry ride, but the ride was extra memorable because the waves were too strong because of an incoming storm. The storm almost made this feel cinematic.

Still, we made the most of it with a hotdog sandwich, Coke Zero, and that mix of excitement and curiosity you only get on special days.

By the time we disembarked, the strong winds made the whole experience feel even more dramatic.

Would you brave strong waves and wind for the crown experience? ๐Ÿ—ฝ

We skipped the cab to save moneyโ€ฆ and somehow spent more. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

We had just come from the Statue of Liberty and were on our way back to the hotel.

Instead of taking a cab, my husband and I decided to walk. Partly to save money, partly to explore more of New York.

Then we passed by the massive, opulent storefront of Printemps.
I told him, โ€œLetโ€™s just go inside and take a look.โ€

Wellโ€ฆ that โ€œquick lookโ€ turned into a full shopping spree. This was not part of the plan. ๐Ÿ˜‚โœจ

No regrets though. Some luxury finds are just too beautiful to leave behind.

Be honest, has a โ€˜just lookingโ€™ moment ever turned into a shopping spree for you too? ๐Ÿ˜‚

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ NAG-EYE PATCHING AT PUSH-UP EXERCISES KA NAโ€ฆ PERO HINDI PA RIN STRAIGHT ANG MATA? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Maraming parents consistent sa patching at pencil push-ups.

Pero napapansin nila:

๐Ÿ‘‰ gumagaling sandali
๐Ÿ‘‰ tapos bumabalik ang duling o lazy eye

Hindi dahil mali ang effort.

Kundi dahil kulang ang approach.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Bakit hindi sapat ang push-up exercises?

Paulit-ulit lang:

Same target.
Same distance.
Same difficulty.

Walang progression.

At mostly isang movement lang (convergence), ang na-eexercise ay mainly medial re**us muscle lang.

Pero ang vision kailangan:

โœ”๏ธ all 6 eye muscles
โœ”๏ธ iba-ibang directions
โœ”๏ธ coordination
โœ”๏ธ depth perception
โœ”๏ธ brain control

Hindi sapat ang isang movement lang.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Bakit hindi sapat ang patching?

Oo, pinapalakas niya ang weak eye.

Pero habang naka-patch:

๐Ÿ‘‰ isang mata lang ang nagtatrabaho

Samantalang ang normal binocular vision?

๐Ÿ‘‰ TWO eyes working together.

Kung hindi na-train ang teamwork (binocular vision),
temporary lang ang improvement.

๐Ÿ‘ Vision is not about one strong eye.

Itโ€™s about two eyes and the brain working as one system.

Thatโ€™s why proper management focuses on:
โœ”๏ธ coordination
โœ”๏ธ fusion
โœ”๏ธ brain-eye integration

not repetition alone.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธNAG EYE PATCHING AT PUSH-UP EYE EXERCISES KA NAโ€ฆ BAKIT HINDI PA RIN STRAIGHT ANG MGA MATA? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Maraming patients at parents ang sobrang disciplined sa eye patching at eye exercisesโ€ฆ

Pero napapansin nila:

๐Ÿ‘‰ gumagaling sandali
๐Ÿ‘‰ tapos bumabalik ulit ang duling o lazy eye.

Hindi dahil mali ang ginawa nila.

Kundi dahil kulang ang treatment approach.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Why Eye Push-Up Exercises Donโ€™t Work Long-Term

Ang eye push-up exercise usually ganito lang:

๐Ÿ‘‰ focus sa pencil
๐Ÿ‘‰ move closer
๐Ÿ‘‰ repeat everyday

Ang problem?

โŒ Paulit-ulit lang ang ginagawa.
Same target.
Same distance.
Same difficulty.

Walang progression.

Parang gym na araw-araw biceps curl lang ginagawa mo.

Hindi lalakas buong katawan.

Second problem:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Push-ups mainly train one movement only, convergence.

Meaning mostly medial re**us muscle lang ang ginagamit.

Pero ang vision requires:

โœ… upward movement
โœ… downward movement
โœ… outward movement
โœ… coordination across ALL of the 6 eye muscles
โœ… fast focusing changes
โœ… depth perception

So kahit magaling ka sa isang movementโ€ฆ

Hindi pa rin trained ang buong visual system.

Vision is not one muscle action.

Itโ€™s coordinated movement.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Why Eye Patching Alone Doesnโ€™t Work

Now letโ€™s talk about patching.

Yes, may benefit siya.

โœ”๏ธ Pinapagana niya ang weak or lazy eye.

Pero eto ang malaking limitation:

Kapag naka-patchโ€ฆ

๐Ÿ‘‰ One eye works.
๐Ÿ‘‰ One eye is blocked.

So natututo ang eyes mag-function individually.

Pero ang normal vision?

Requires BOTH eyes working together as a team.

Binocular vision needs:

โœ… fusion
โœ… alignment
โœ… brain integration between two eyes

At hindi ito natetrain kapag isang mata lang ang ginagamit.

Thatโ€™s why:

Improvement happens habang naka-patchโ€ฆ

Pero kapag tinanggal?

๐Ÿšจ Bumabalik ang problem.

Because teamwork was never trained.

โœ… Eye patching helps activate the weak eye
โœ… Eye exercises can improve control

But vision is not about one eye working harder.

๐Ÿ‘ Vision is about two eyes and the brain working together.

Kung hindi na-train ang binocular vision, temporary lang ang improvement.

Thatโ€™s why proper vision therapy focuses on:
โœ”๏ธ coordination
โœ”๏ธ fusion
โœ”๏ธ brain-eye integration

Not repetition alone.

Because treating vision problems requires more than strengthening muscles.

It requires retraining the brain.

Just because itโ€™s cheap and trending doesnโ€™t mean itโ€™s safe. Improperly fitted or unregulated contact lenses can cause:

โ€ข Severe eye infections
โ€ข Corneal ulcers
โ€ข Permanent scarring
โ€ข Vision loss

If a store cannot:

โœ” Provide FDA-approved lenses
โœ” Perform a proper eye assessment
โœ” Have a licensed optometrist supervise your use

Then itโ€™s not worth the risk.

You only have one pair of eyes. Protect them.

Throwback to autumn in New York.

Crisp air, golden streets, and slow walks between busy days. ๐Ÿ

Some trips donโ€™t just become memoriesโ€ฆ they become reminders of who you were becoming at that time.

Still grateful for moments that allowed me to pause, explore, and simply exist beyond schedules and responsibilities.

What city feels like this for you?

A year ago, thatโ€™s what Crisvinโ€™s parents did.

They had already been to other clinics. They tried different options. They werenโ€™t careless. They were hopeful.

And instead of stopping when things didnโ€™t improve, they kept going.
To stay consistent.
To trust the process.

Crisvin became one of the kids in our MyoLight program.

Session after session.
Follow-up after follow-up.

And then came the kind of improvement that still humbles me.

From an eye grade of -12.0 to 0.25 in just one month.

Not a small change.
Not a slight correction.
A transformation.

A year ago, he looked like a little boy sitting quietly in my chair.

Today, heโ€™s still the same energetic kid but taller, more confident and yes, mas pogi.

Somewhere between the sessions, the follow-ups, and the laughter inside the clinic, he stopped being just a patient.

He became one of my kids.

And now, sitting beside him after completing his final session in our vision therapy program, I felt something I canโ€™t fully explain.

Not just pride in the results.
Not just happiness as a doctor.

But a deep, quiet joy.

Because when parents refuse to give up early, they donโ€™t just improve vision.

They change a childโ€™s future.
