Why Do a Breast Self-Exam?
• Early detection saves lives, over 40% of breast cancers are found through self-exams. (I found mine this way)
• Helps you become familiar with how your breasts normally look and feel.
• Empowers you to take charge of your health.

How to Perform a Breast Self-Exam

1. In the Mirror

👀 Stand with shoulders straight, arms on hips.
✅ Look for changes: size, shape, swelling, dimpling, redness, or ni**le changes.

2. Hands Raised

🙌 Raise your arms overhead.
✅ Check for the same changes.

3. Gentle Squeeze

👉 Gently squeeze each ni**le.
✅ Look for discharge (milky, yellow, or bloody).

4. Lying Down

🛏️ Use your right hand for your left breast, left hand for your right.
• Use 3 middle fingers in small circular motions.
• Cover the entire breast from collarbone to top of abdomen, and from armpit to cleavage.
• Use light, medium, and firm pressure.

5. In the Shower (I found mine In the shower)

🚿 Fingers glide easier when skin is wet.
✅ Repeat the circular exam using the same pattern.

What to Watch For
• Lumps or thickened areas
• Swelling, warmth, or redness
• Unexplained pain
• Ni**le inversion or discharge
• Skin dimpling (like an orange peel)

When to See a Doctor

If you notice anything unusual, don’t panic, most changes are not cancer.
👉 But schedule a medical check-up right away.

Remember:

🔁 Do your BSE once a month, at the same time (best after your period).
💖 Know your normal, so you can notice changes early
