📢 EARTHQUAKE SAFETY BULLETIN | POST-EARTHQUAKE NOTICE❗⛑️
Following the recent seismic event, the Sakya Red Cross - Youth (SRCY) promptly mobilized to safeguard the well-being of the school community. Immediate response measures were carried out to assist students and faculty who experienced physical or psychological distress resulting from the earthquake.
Volunteers and staff provided first aid and psychological first aid (PFA) to affected individuals, addressing cases such as hyperventilation, panic attacks, dizziness, minor injuries, and aggravation of pre-existing conditions. Systematic safety checks were also implemented to confirm the security of all persons and facilities after the seismic event.
As part of the institution’s continued commitment to disaster preparedness, the Sakya Red Cross - Youth reminds everyone to remain alert and to review the following essential earthquake safety procedures:

📣 During an Earthquake
1. Drop, Cover, and Hold On.
Immediately drop to your hands and knees, take cover under a sturdy desk or table, and hold on until the shaking stops.
2. Protect Your Head and Neck.
Use your arms, a bag, or any nearby object to shield your head and neck from falling debris.
3. Stay Clear of Hazards.
Move away from windows, glass, outside walls, and tall objects that may topple over.
4. Stay Put.
If indoors, remain inside until the shaking stops. If outdoors, move to an open area away from structures, trees, and power lines.
📣 After an Earthquake
1. Expect Aftershocks.
Be prepared for subsequent tremors and stay ready to Drop, Cover, and Hold On.
2. Check for Injuries.
Assess yourself first, then assist others if possible. Administer first aid is trained, and avoid moving seriously injured individuals unless absolutely necessary.
3. Evacuate Safely.
Proceed calmly to your designated evacuation area. Use stairs instead of elevators.
4. Inspect and Report Damage.
Check for signs of fire, gas leaks, or electrical issues. If you smell gas, turn off the main valve and avoid using open flames or switches.
5. Monitor Mental Health.
Offer support to anyone experiencing panic or anxiety. Encourage calm breathing and reassurance until professional help is available.
6. Follow Official Advisories.
Wait for clearance from authorities before re-entering any building or area declared potentially unsafe.
