The Alterado General Hospital in line with its corporate social responsibility will be launching its community based medical extension program called “Barangay Kalusugan”. The hospital in this endeavor wishes to serve the immediate community to where it belongs through the collaborative effort of the barangays in Agdao district. We believe that one of the many responsibilities of the barangay is to see to it that the program of the national and local government i n health is implemented and making sure that its constituents are in good health and productive. We are together in this mission hence we encourage that we work together to make a healthy barangay through our Barangay Kalusugan program. Barangay Kalusugan, in this line, will be addressing the specific health concerns in the community. This is through membership in the specific health clubs the hospital shall establish and these are the following
1) Diabetes Club , for persons with high blood sugar
2) Hypertensive Club, for persons with high blood pressure
3) Asthma Club, for persons with pulmonary asthma
4) Cancer Prevention Clinic
5) Child Care clinic
6) Arthritis Clinic, for persons with arthritis
7) Buntis Club, for pregnant women
The above clubs have their assigned days in a month, Hypertensive Club every 1st Saturday, Asthma Club every 2nd Saturday, Buntis Club every 3rd Saturday, Diabetics Club every 4th Saturday, Cancer Prevention Clinic every 1st Friday, Chld Care Clinic every 2nd Friday, Arthritis Club every 3rd Friday. All of these starts at 7 am at the Alterado General Hospital , Outpatient Service Area. The membership is for free and in order to be a member, the patients are being endorsed and identified by the barangay official/BHW/BNS or whoever may be assigned by the barangay in this task. We take into consideration, the social landscape in Agdao area, we make it sure that the sustainability of this progarm is viable for the barangay constituents and the hospital likewise hence we tailor fit the services of the hospital to be very affordable and low for the community of Agdao coupled with certain privileges on freebies. Together with its membership, the patient will enjoy certain privileges such as free consultation on the assigned day of the club, free nutrition counseling, free blood pressure monitoring, free use of the nebulizing machine for the asthmatics, free advocacy lectures on specific health concerns of each club and free lecture on philhealth benefits and other healthcare benefits from the government. Moreover at the onset of the enrolment in the club, there will be free screening. On the succeeding monthly monitoring especially for the diabetics on their blood sugar levels and for the hypertensives for their cholesterol levels, the patient may avail the lowest screening tests in the community for as long as he/she is a member of the club. The barangay’s role on the other hand, as collaborativepartners in goodhealth will be disseminating the information in their respective constituents in the barangay and may refer the identified patients in the hospital to be enrolled and entered in the club that they should belong in order to further help that patient, monitor its health and maintain in good health status. In case the patient may need admission, the barangay could extend assistance through the Philhealth, Lingap, PCSO, DSWD and other progarms of the local government as medical assistance for the patient, the hospital accepts this kind of assistance and arrangement.
