Mingkay is a 10-month old female cat presented to the clinic due to difficulty in labor. She already gave birth to a kitten at home about 4 hours past but unfortunately it did not survive and Mingkay sadly stopped pushing.

Upon ultrasound, two already have weak heartbeats and emergency Cesarean section was immediately performed.

Mingkay is now recovering and we're hopeful for continuous improvement at home in the coming days.

Zeus is a 4year-old, intact male Belgian Mallinois that was presented to the clinic due to testicular swelling. Owners started to notice the swelling for quite some time already and had lately decided to have a consult about the underlying condition.

This condition is caused by several factors including infection and systemic diseases, trauma, epididymitis, testi ular torsion, hydrocele, neoplasia and other uncommon conditions.

Scrotal sac ablation with removal of both testicles was done by the team. This condition does not always cause pain but it's best to have a proper consultation to address the case promptly.

What is a Mammary tumor?

Mammary tumors are common in female dogs, and are the most common type of tumor in sexually intact bi***es. Dogs that are also overweight or fed with high-fat diet are also at high risk in developing this condition. Initially, it will start from a lump that may be felt when mammary glands are touched or palpated. In more severe and advanced cases, the tumor may ulcerate or bleed leading to complications.

Surgical intervention is recommended to remove tumor/s. The prognosis is usually good, however it becomes worse for certain types of tumor and for all mammary tumors in cats.

The average age for these type of tumor to develop in a dog is between 6-10 years but they can possibly occur in dogs younger than 4 years old.

The exact cause of the condition is unknown but several factors are known to increase the risk like hormonal factor, age, and breed predisposition but neutering will significantly reduce the development of mammary tumors.

Have a regular check with your Veterinarian to avoid this condition and learn more about other management approaches and proper procedures in maintaining the optimum well-being of our furbabies.
