Thank you.

ONCE AND FOR ALL, LET’S PUT AN END TO THIS.

So this happened, a friend messaged me, if I could be of help to his friend. He forwarded the concern to me and I was shocked. (I am not the pediatrician of the baby btw.)

Let this be a gentle reminder that we doctors have our own clinic schedules. Meaning, all concerns should be addressed during the clinic hours. FACEBOOK PAGES AND MESSENGERS ARE NOT YOUR CONVENIENT EMERGENCY HOTLINES. If your doctor is not around, I’m sure there are other doctors who are. 🙂

My patients know that I reply to their concerns especially when I have seen the patients PERSONALLY at the clinics, or if I am waiting for additional laboratory results, mostly with no extra charge.

pages and messengers are not intended to replace face-to-face consults, or even be your last option when you choose to self medicate and consult tiktok.😒

Please do not normalize getting mad if you do not receive an immediate response from your doctors, without knowing that they are busy hospital - or clinic - hopping (kadalasan di lang po isang lugar iniikutan ng mga yan), while you are waiting with a cellphone on hand at the comfort of your home. 😔

A little appreciation goes a loooooong way especially when your doctor finds time to reply even to your simplest queries. 🙂🙏

Btw, advised him to bring the child to her pedia, because I’m sure it was not the pedia’s idea to give delight hihi😬✌️

Respect begets respect.🫶

🩺 LIVER ABSCESS? LESS INVASIVE OPTION!
CT-Guided Drainage – A Minimally Invasive Option for Faster Recovery

This case from last week involved a patient with a large, multi-pocketed (multi-septated) liver abscess. Instead of open surgery, a thin drainage catheter was inserted through a small puncture in the skin using CT scan guidance.

About 60 mL of thick pus was successfully drained. The catheter was left in place, connected to a JP bulb, to allow continued drainage while the patient completes the prescribed antibiotics. No large cuts. No stitches. Just safe, targeted care.

🧫 What is a liver abscess?
A liver abscess is a serious infection that causes a buildup of pus inside the liver. If untreated, it can spread and lead to serious illness. Thankfully, many abscesses today can be drained through image-guided techniques with less pain, faster recovery, and fewer complications.

🌿 Choosing the best treatment always depends on the patient’s condition. In some cases, surgery is essential. In others, a less invasive approach like this can be just as effective. Each patient is different and care is always personalized.

Disturbing :( These are young people just beginning to live their lives, now struggling with the complexities of relationships and identity in a world shaped by dating apps, hookup culture and bad social media influence, silently fueling a deepening human crisis.

57 A DAY

They are young, often broke, sometimes in love. They come in quietly. Walk-in clinics, anonymous forms. Every day, 57 more of them.

The virus isn’t new. Its targets are. Fifteen. Seventeen. Twenty-two. Their blood is telling the truth faster than their government can listen.

Congress remains unmoved. The halls are preoccupied with ceremonies of allegiance.

There'll be indignant speeches. A task force. A ribbon. And another 57 tomorrow.

Mpox has a fatty outer layer that it needs to infect our cells. Bleach destroys this layer and damages the virus’s proteins, preventing it from binding, entering, or replicating.

💡Disinfect surfaces with 0.1% bleach
💡For contaminated fabrics, wash with hot water + bleach if safe for the material.
💡Keep surfaces wet with disinfectant for at least 10 minutes.

Disinfect right. Stay protected.

Mpox is primarily transmitted through direct skin-to-skin contact, especially during sexual activity involving ge***al or perianal lesions and close, prolonged contact, including respiratory droplets (typically within 6 feet for 3 hours or more).

Indirect transmission can occur via contaminated objects like clothing, bedding, or furniture. Animal-to-human transmission may result from contact with the blood, fluids, lesions, or scabs of infected animals, bites or scratches, or consuming undercooked bushmeat. Vertical transmission from a pregnant person to the fetus is also possible.

The virus is present in high concentrations in skin lesions and bodily fluids such as saliva, blood, vaginal secretions, and semen.

The incubation period can extend from 5-21 days, depending slightly on the route of exposure.

After this period, the illness progresses to the prodromal phase, during which lymphadenopathy is a distintive feature, along with fever, headache, myalgia and body malaise.

This is followed by the eruptive phase, which features a characteristic rash. The rash evolves through distinct stages: vesiculation, pustulation, umbilication, and encrustation, typically progressing synchronously and resolving within 2 to 4 weeks.

Uric acid is a waste product formed when your body breaks down purines, found in some foods and drinks like red meat, seafood, and alcohol. Too much uric acid can build up in your blood and form sharp crystals in your joints leading to gout.

The number of skin lesions serves as a key marker of both disease severity and potential infectivity in human mpox (HMPX). Lesion count is used to classify the clinical severity of the illness, with higher counts often correlating with increased viral load and a greater risk of transmission. Notably, a study conducted in Mexico found that patients with 50 or more lesions had a significantly higher risk of mortality, particularly among those with advanced HIV infection.
