A Legacy of Love: A Daughter’s Life-Saving Gift 💚💛
Davao City, Philippines — Same hospital. Same operating room. A different kind of miracle.
Four years ago, Monica walked the halls of Davao Doctors Hospital (DDH) as a medical intern, dedicated to learning and serving the community. This year, she returned to those familiar surgical suites with a profound new purpose—not as part of the medical team, but as a selfless daughter donating her kidney to give her father a second chance at life.
A Historic Milestone in Precision Surgery 🏥
This journey wasn’t just a miracle of the heart; it was a milestone for medical innovation in Mindanao. Monica underwent a Laparoscopic Donor Nephrectomy, a minimally invasive procedure allowing for faster recovery and less scarring. This marks only the second procedure of its kind in the region, and Monica makes history as Mindanao’s first female laparoscopic kidney donor.
By God’s grace, the transplant was a success. Monica is recovering well, and her father continues his journey toward health with a renewed spirit. This was made possible by the expertise of our multidisciplinary transplant team:
👨⚕️ The Medical Team:
Dr. Jay‑R Enojo (Urologist), Dr. King Palabyab (Anesthesiologist), Dr. Manny Del Fierro (Transplant Surgeon), Dr. Louie Metran (Transplant Surgeon), Dr. Norman Cruz (Anesthesiologist), and Dr. Clarissa Arsolon (Nephrologist), alongside our Surgery, Anesthesiology, Renal, Dialysis, and Kidney Transplant Coordination Teams.
At Davao Doctors Hospital, we are honored to be part of stories where medicine meets compassion. We thank Monica for her courage and for trusting us with her family’s journey.
Sa Davao Doc, ang pag-atiman gisaligan—kay ang gugma ug paglaum pirmi una. 💙🤍
