World Hospice and Palliative Care Day 2024 is a global observance dedicated to raising awareness about hospice and palliative care, essential services that improve the quality of life for individuals with life-limiting illnesses.

In celebration of the WHPCD 2024, the SPMC Section of Supportive, Hospice and Palliative Care invites you to an afternoon affair at the House of Hope on October 10, 2024.

October 14th, 2023, marks a special day as we come together to commemorate World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (WHPCD).

The Section of Supportive Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Department of Family and Community Medicine joins the celebration with a lay forum for the patients and their families at Capernaum, SPMC, Davao City.

WHPCD has been marked every year for the last 19 years.

The theme for 2023 is Compassionate Communities: Together for Palliative Care.
Compassion is defined as a strong feeling of empathy for people who are suffering and
a desire to help them.

In addition, integrating palliative care into healthcare systems is integral to the achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) including financial risk protection. Further access to quality essential healthcare services and access to safe, effective, quality, and affordable essential medicines for all is essential.
