Aaaand it's a brand new yearrr!! Happiest birthday to the one babe, ma'am Sheena Bulaong!

Ma'am Sheena, is one of the majority of CRD, an introvert. BUT, by all means this does not imply that you can't talk to her. She may be quite, but she has one of the unique talents some introverts want: being able to adjust to their environment. In other words, she has the grace and social intelligence to shift her approach to connect with the people around her.

Work-wise, she's a person of action. She's someone who doesn't wait to be told what to do or wait for a "perfect" moment. When she sees that there's a need to do something, she has the initiative to move quickly to address it. A great plus if you're her boss!

As for her hidden (but not so much now) talent, She(ena) can dance! We don't know yet if she can sing; but we have the whole 2026 to discover! ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐ŸŽต Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday, happy birthdayyyy, haaaappy birrrrthdayyy toooo youuuuuuu!! ๐ŸŽต

Today, we celebrate a birthday of a special someone-- a wife to one-- a mother to three-- actually, a foster-mother to more or less 30 (CRD staff ๐Ÿ˜‰)-- a friend to many-- a daughter of God.

Happiest birthday to the one and onlyyyy.. Doc Genevieve Dable Tupas!

There are a ton of things we can describer her. We'd like to mention some of her traits that had made great impacts to the DMSFI-CRD staff's lives.

She is a safe place in human form, whose kindness personified, and a walking reminder of goodness. She literally tells you to just take your time, be of no pressure, take a rest, and just don't be so hard on yourself. This just shows her mindfulness and thoughtfulness especially to her subordinates. One of the qualities of a great leader.

She's one of those leaders who just freely gives opportunities. No questions asked-- no strings attached. She values education so much, that if you ever want to pursue your education, she will prioritize it over your current position or responsibilities.

Being at the top of the most prayerful people in CRD is also one of her greatest trait.

All those seem like a very serious collection of traits. So here comes the light ones, and some funny ones.

She's one of those bosses where you can connect to fairly easily.

And when you go out together for maybe a center-wide strategic planning or a training, she is the one to wake up first and 6:00 AM and cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner for everyone.

Also, don't underestimate those legs: she can talk about research and some other stuff while standing.

Happiest birthday to one of the youngest yet accomplished in CRD, Ms. Jay Marie Lumantas!

This woman is the real deal. She doesn't half-heartedly do the work just to get the job done-- or just do it just because-- she does it with diligence. If you get to see her outputs, you'll see a polished one. And if you ever see something for improvement, it'll just be minor ones.

She's one of the few "who knows her worth, who claims her space, who never backs down no matter what". Despite these strong characteristics of her, she's still a very thoughtful friend. If you ever become part of her circle of friends, you'll notice that she's a master of the Filipino terms "pakikisama" and pakikiramdam," which roughly translates to "conformity/social harmony" and "shared inner perception/sensitivity."

One of the things that we could say as her Achilles Heel is that, she sometimes takes her time to understand a joke (or a pun)-- which to most of us in CRD, is what makes it EVEN funnier.

In the same event, ๐ข๐‹๐”๐๐€๐’: ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐‹๐ข๐Ÿ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฒ๐ฅ๐ž ๐”๐ฌ๐ž๐ซ-๐š๐๐š๐ฉ๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐ข๐๐๐ž๐ฑ๐ข๐ง๐  & ๐€๐ฎ๐ญ๐จ๐ฆ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐’๐ฒ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ฆ๐ฌ was also showcased to the same representatives. This is an app that is just one of the many outputs of the LANTAW-DABAW project, which will be used in telemedicine implementation; specifically, a telemedicine web app where video calling and mental health screening tools are already integrated in the system, so its easier to profile the health records of OFWs when used in telemental health.

A booth was also installed, manned by the project's staff to answer specific questions from representatives and guests, and to further elaborate the expected goals and outcomes of the project and the app.

DMSFI RESEARCH CENTER

The Research Center is the Clinical Epidemiology and Science Research unit of the College of Medicine of the Davao Medical School Foundation, Inc.

This houses a modern research laboratory that supports the conduct of basic scientific researches, preclinical and clinical trials, the major goal of which is the development of potential herbal plants into therapeutic preparations that can be utilized by the community.

Ultimately, the research center could also collaborate with other institutions, government agencies, NGOs, and the private sector towards academic and scientific research.
