This is SPMC’s Section of Diving, Hyperbaric Medicine and Difficult Wounds. We use the most current microvascular (blood flow test on smallest blood supply on skin and tissues) assesment tool (Perimed TcPO2 and Skin Perfusion Pressure) in predicting wound healing for diabetic foot ulcer and other difficult Wounds.

That means, we will know if your problem wound WILL HEAL or NOT basing on the Oxygen and blood flow to the affected area. It is a fact the wound healing is an oxygen dependent process. At the moment, we are the pioneer of this technology (combination of TcPO2 and SPP) in the Philippines

This will also help in predicting if Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) will work or not in the patients Journey to Wound healing.

Our patients chance to heal their wound is HIGH and not blinded whether HBOT will work or not saving financial resources for other medical needs.

SPMC clinical Hyperbaric Medicine is the only fellowship training facility in the Philippines, which focuses in training doctors and nurses for proper use of Clinical Hyperbaric Medicine and its proper applications in wound care and other difficult diseases.

We have a very comfortable and modern 10 person hyperbaric chamber using the latest Oxygen delivery system with the safety standard similar to other established hyperbaric operations in Leading countries. We don’t cut corners because we make sure fire safety, patients safety and satisfaction as well as your fellowship trained doctors and certified hyperbaric nurses will take Care of you.

A new study in the Journal of Wound Management explored whether sampling ulcer debris and using polarised-light microscopy to detect urate crystals can help identify previously unrecognised tophaceous gout in patients with type 2 diabetes and foot ulcers.

🔹 Among 36 ulcer-debris samples, urate crystals were found in 14% of cases, suggesting undiagnosed gout may be more common than assumed
🔹 The method involves simple sampling during routine wound debridement, offering a practical and low-cost approach
🔹 Recognising gout as a contributing factor could influence treatment strategies and potentially improve healing outcomes
