Use the right toothbrush
Soft bristles only. (Hard bristles can damage your gums.)
Manual or electric—both work, but electric is easier and more effective.

2. The correct brushing method (2 minutes total)
Divide your mouth into 4 sections (upper right, upper left, lower right, lower left).
Step-by-step
1. Angle the brush 45° toward the gumline.
This is the most important step—plaque hides where the tooth meets the gum.
2. Small, gentle circular motions.
No scrubbing or sawing back and forth. Let the bristles do the work.
3. Brush the outer surfaces (front of teeth).
4. Brush the inner surfaces (back of teeth).
For front teeth, tilt the brush vertically and make short up-and-down strokes.
5. Brush the chewing surfaces (tops of molars).
6. Brush your tongue gently.
That removes bacteria and keeps your breath fresh.
---
3. How long?
2 minutes, twice a day.
(Electric brushes usually have a timer—very helpful.)
---
4. Toothpaste
Fluoride toothpaste
Pea-sized amount
Spit out after brushing—don’t rinse with water so fluoride stays on your teeth longer.
