October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Screening mammograms should start at the age of 40. Early detection is the key to beating Breast Cancer.

Breast Cancer Survival is more than 90% when it is diagnosed at an early stage. When detected early, patients may not need to undergo additional chemotherapy or radiotherapy after surgery.

The NCCN Guidelines recommend annual screening mammogram for all females starting at the age of 40 if they are of average risk.

It is recommended that higher risk individuals- those with extensive family history, start screening mammogram 10 years prior to when the youngest family member was diagnosed, but not less the age of 30.

CLINIC ANNOUNCEMENT:

Dr. Villanueva will be on leave starting January 13, 2023 and will be pursuing further studies for subspecialty training for 2 years.
