Program History
The Pharmacy Program of Davao Doctors College is the fruit of the Institution’s efforts to respond to the need of the industry to produce globally competitive and ethically-imbued Pharmacists that bears a mark of DDC Quality. In 2014, the college finally decided to open a Pharmacy Program.. The Program started with the leadership of Pharmacist Marvelee P. Crisologo, RPh, MSPharm with 39 enrolled students. In 2015, Dr. Kenny James P. Merin, RPh took over the Program and started with 164 students in second year and first year status. The program now has three full functional professional laboratories; The Pharmaceutical Sciences Laboratory, a 60-capacity laboratory meant for professional subject laboratories equipped with a fume-hood, antelock room, chemical resistant tables and chairs, fully air-conditioned, analytical weighing balance with enclosure, manufacturing and quality control equipment and with a mounted LCD Projector and the second laboratory is the Pharmacy Skills Development Laboratory, equipped with the necessary amenities for skills development for the students, fully air-conditioned, and simulated for a Community and Hospital Pharmacy set-up. Third is the Pharmacy Animal Research Facility, equipped with animal houses for rabbits and rodents, and experimentation room that can be used for student and faculty research. The program is also focusing on building connections and affiliations with established industry partners and is partnered with Rose Pharmacy, Amesco Drug Store, Merin Pharmacy, MedExpress, LTS Retail Specialists, Davao Doctors Hospital, Makati Medical Center, Philippine Medical Children’s Hospital, San Pedro Hospital, Malta Medical Center, Davao Adventist Hospital, Diamond Laboratories, Splash Laboratories and St. Martin Laboratories. The program has also established linkages with accredited organizations to aid us in our community extension services; some of our partners are the Philippine Pharmacists Association Davao City Chapter, and the Young Pharmacists Group of the Philippines, all are non-government organizations set the promote the role of Pharmacists and aid the less fortunate communities. In 2018, the first batch of graduates comprised of 47 students. Batch 2019 on the otherhand, composed of 44 graduates. In total, the program has produced 60 licensed pharmacists.
This 2019, Ms. Stephannie Louise B. Estipona, RPh, RChT continues the legacy and aims to lead the program to greater heights. With the new curriculum and the implementation of K12, the program doing its best to continue providing quality DDCian Pharmacy Education.
