WHAT IS HIJAMA THERAPY?

Hijama, also known as cupping therapy, is a method in which your blood is drawn toward the skin through a vacuum. The therapist puts cups having vacuum pressure inside them over your skin, and it draws blood toward the surface, removing toxins and impurities from nearby tissues.

Hijama helps treat various illnesses and is being used for decades. It has its importance in Islamic history too.

Hijama (cupping therapy) can be of two types, dry and wet.

The difference between dry and wet cupping therapy is that in that dry cupping therapy no incision is made, but in wet cupping therapy incisions are made on the skin along with vacuum pressure application.

At the end of the procedure, you will notice a bruise and discoloration of the skin because of broken blood vessels just underneath the skin.

THE SCIENCE AND PHYSIOLOGY BEHIND HIJAMA
THE PHYSIOLOGICAL EFFECTS ARE :

1. Improves Blood Flow to Muscles & Tissues. : There is an improvement in blood flow to muscles and tissues. A normal massage pushes down the tissues and muscles.
But Hijama pulls the tissues up. A vacuum forms inside the cup. This negative force sucks up the tissues and muscles.This, in turn, causes vasodilatation.
2. Improves Lymph Flow: There is a drastic improvement in blood and lymph flow. By pulling the muscle tissues up and outwards from the skeletal structure. It relieves muscle spasms and fatigue. And the capacity to recoup from pains and wounds rapidly.
3. Relieves Joint stiffness: It relaxes adhesions. And invigorates synovial liquids which help to relieve joint stiffness and muscle soreness. One can tonify and strengthen their muscles by this practice.
4. Basal Metabolic Rate has Increased: The heart rate speeds up. The physiological function of a person is increased. It is estimated to be equal to one who has done aerobic exercise at the same time.
5. Blood flow to internal organs: Cupping percolates deeper into the body tissues. As a result blood flow to internal organs is improved.
