The RHU Kiblawan conducted its first-ever Cervical Cancer Awareness Month event on May 23, 2025, with the theme 'Babae, Mahalaga Ka!' The activity was held in the Municipality of Kiblawan, Davao del Sur, and was attended by healthcare workers from the local community. One of the guest speakers, Dr. Kamille Lika Mari G. Arellano, OB-GYNE, emphasized the importance of early detection in advocating for womenโs health. Jonna May D. Sarona, RN, led a session on Chest Breast Examination Training for all participants. Also present at the event was Mrs. Riza R. Dacalos, RN, MPH, Health Education Promotion Officer II of the Provincial Health Office of Davao del Sur, who supported the advocacy and community engagement efforts.
This event is to raise awareness about cervical cancer, its prevention, and the importance of regular screening. It aims to educate the public on the role of the human papillomavirus (HPV) in causing cervical cancer and to promote the HPV vaccine and Pap tests as vital tools for early detection and prevention. It also honors those affected by cervical cancer and encourages communities, healthcare providers, and policymakers to support efforts toward eliminating this preventable disease.
