Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women in the Philippines, accounting for 14% of female cancers, and is the second leading cause of cancer mortality among Filipino women, accounting for 6% of female cancer deaths.

A Pap smear screens for cervical cancer. The test checks for abnormal cells in the cervix that are cancerous or have the potential to become cancerous. A Pap smear may also detect certain infections and inflammation.

Women should start getting Pap smears starting at age 21.
