For this purpose, the RBDI EcoKids booth was set up at the entrance of the presentation venue where the registration of new member-kids aging 6-12 took place. The kids were just as excited about registering as about watching the musicale. To encourage signing up in the club, kits which include the official EcoKids Club bag made of ‘katsa’, the BDI EcoKids guidebooks, and school supplies were distributed to the new members.
“It is very important for every member of the community to be involved in a cause for rehabilitating mother earth. Letting kids join in activities that will help promote the welfare of the environment is one of the many ways we can show that we do care for the only environment we live in,” stressed Ms. Katrina Francesca Saguin Herrera, the bank’s Vice-President for Administration and Finance. She further went saying, “this is now our time to give back our wonderful planet the care it deserves and we are starting it right here in BDI.”
As we all know, our Planet Earth is in danger. Environmental problems have been so complex. Problems like waste management, endangered species, ozone layer, air and water pollution, and global warming are just some of the countless environmental issues that are felt around the world. The question is, can we still save our Planet Earth? How can we make a difference? Can we still give a better place to live in to the next generation? There is a great effort being made worldwide to counteract the alleged impact of the human footprint on the world's climate, the earth’s land, oceans, and atmosphere, as well as the health of the inhabitants destroying it! There had been lots of communities and organizations formed to help save and protect the world we live and Banco Dipolog, Inc. is one of them, hence the birth of BDI ECOKIDS CLUB, our bank’s environmental campaign with its slogan, “Bata Daghan Ikatabang”. For over 50 years, RBDI has always been sincere in delivering financial products that will help improve the life of those in the countryside. It is continually in search of ways to help the community in the provision of avenues to enjoy quality of life. With this philosophy, RBDI has included as a corporate core value-CARE FOR ENVIRONMENT. With the environmental issues that we are suffering from nowadays, our Mother Earth is no longer a pleasant place to live in for all mankind. RBDI has specifically chosen kids as promoters of change as they are the generation of the future, the ones whom we want to see how quality life can be enjoyed in a clean, green, and sustainable environment. The children are our future. Thus, they need to be aware on how to take care of their home, to be responsible as early as now on how to take good care of the place they live in. That as a purpose of this kiddie organization, the BDI ECOKID member shall be enjoying the benefit of being representatives of change by organizing and participating in activities that involve environmental awareness such as but not limited to coastal clean-up drive, tree planting, waste management, recycling, among others. It is the aim of BDI ECOKIDS CLUB to be one of the major medium of change, of preserving our ecosystem to make Mother Earth a better place to live in, for us, for our children, and for our children’s children. Get your kids involved in the bank’s forthcoming environment awareness programs! It will not only be fun. it will also help educate your children on the harmful effects of some human activities, and the ways we can avoid them.
