As i prepare this afternoon for a home service attending a sick Camel of Amlan Zoo, popularly known as Drealand Natures and Adventure Park( DNAP) let me give you some trivia and facts about Camels.

1. Camels are fast, they can run up to 64 kilometers per hour in the desert and can easily beat Iliud Kipchogi the current world title holder of a full (42) kilometers marathon he won last year in Berlin Germany.

2. Camels can travel up to 161 kilometers in the hot desert without water and it would take days depending on the speed.

3. The hump of the Camel is not filled with water ( contrary to some beliefs) it is rather filled with fats weighing up to 64 kgs.

4. A thirsty Camel can drink up to 30 gallons or 135 liters of water in 13 minutes.

5. There are two types of true Camel. One hump type ( Arabian variety) and two hump type ( Asian Variety).

6. Camels have 3 eyelids and 2 rows of eyelashes that prevent sand to enter their eyes.

7. 23 Camels were used as pack animals during the few years of the Cariboo Gold Rush in the early 1860 in British Columbia Canada.

8. Body temp of Camel ranges from 34 degree celsius to 40 degree celsius.
