Health, social and nutrition workers along with people living with diabetes organized a World Diabetes Day 2024 parade yesterday at Pantawan People’s Park to help raise awareness on a campaign for those afflicted with the disease to be able to secure treatment and to urge individuals to aim for balanced nutrition.

Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo, Chairperson of the City Nutrition Council, commends the Insulin Saving Lives Dumaguete, City Nutrition Office, City Health Office and other concerned agencies for their consistent efforts to help address diabetes as a significant global public health concern.

Nutrition workers led by CNO Action Officer Delia Serion offered free blood sugar screening to the members of the public to find out whether one has a low or high sugar level and diagnose diabetes and its type for early detection and course of treatment.

This year’s observance of World Diabetes Day carries the theme “Diabetes and Well-Being.”
