Donating blood is a simple act of kindness that can help save lives, but before you donate, it’s important to make sure you meet the basic donor requirements.

The Philippine Red Cross – Negros Oriental Chapter follows strict screening guidelines to protect both our donors and the patients who receive blood. Age, weight, health status, and proper preparation are all part of ensuring a safe and successful blood donation.

If you meet the criteria, we invite you to visit our Blood Service Facility and be part of our growing community of volunteer blood donors.

| PRC UPDATE

In response to Typhoon Basyang “Penha,” the Philippine Red Cross – Negros Oriental Chapter extended assistance to 37 stranded individuals from 25 families at the Dumaguete City Port, who were bound for Siquijor and Mindanao island groups.

As of 4:00 PM, January 6, 2026, our dedicated teams continue to provide support to the affected individuals currently taking temporary shelter at the Women’s Center of the City Social Welfare and Development Office, where hot meals, hygiene items, and new undergarments were distributed to help address their immediate needs.

As part of its continuing preparedness and readiness measures, the Philippine Red Cross – Negros Oriental Chapter has placed its volunteers and response assets on alert status in anticipation of TY “Penha.”

Response teams are closely monitoring official weather advisories, conducting equipment checks, and ensuring that emergency resources are ready for immediate deployment. Coordination with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and local DRRM offices is ongoing to help ensure a timely, organized, and effective response should the situation require it.

With “Penha” expected to affect parts of the country the Philippine Red Cross reminds everyone that during emergencies and disasters, it is important to prepare an emergency “Go Bag” that can sustain you and your family for 72 hours. Know the essential items it should contain — ready to bring with you in case evacuation becomes necessary.

Last January 30, 2026, the Philippine Red Cross carried out another meaningful step in our Typhoon Tino (“Kalmaegi”) Humanitarian Response in Canlaon.

We distributed full sets of non-food items to 500 families across 12 barangays—reaching those most vulnerable, underserved, and whose homes were totally or partially damaged.

When the world no longer watches, we do what must be done. Compassion does not pause, and service does not fade.

Our deepest gratitude to the LGU of Canlaon, the Barangay Captains and officials for their unwavering commitment and cooperation, and to our dedicated staff and volunteers whose hard work and selfless service made this possible.

Together, we continue to stand with communities, restoring dignity and hope—one family at a time. ❤️🤍
